i am not so sure if anyone has asked this before,
is there any difference between the turbo of THP200 vs THP156?

are we able to pull out a THP200 turbo and install it at THP156?
*ponder* :x :x :x

It has variable timing on both exhaust and intake. The 156 only has variable timing on one (I think the intake)

A decent remap will get the 156 up to near as 200 but it will not be the same as a pure 200. I am tempted to think there are other differences too.

Nevertheless its a non issue. The DS3 Racing uses the 156 engine as it has no room for the 200 Turbo. It managed over 210 bhp so to be honest id look into that avenue also.

actually im tempted to plug out a THP200 turbo and see if it can fits THP156 turbo... but i wanna get more information on this before i get a rough idea on what im messing with first.

Contact etunners, they should be able to assist with nitty gritty details.

You also need a bigger intercooler, because bigger turbo means more air.

THP200 don't use a turbo dump valve but a recirculation valve instead.

And there are more differences...

in Malaysia = no etuners... not so sure they will advise me if i just write a long love letter to them...

DanRo, noted on that... :) definitely a bigger intercooler :)

It sounds like an expensive way to get a car that will always have less potential than the 200 simply because of the differences to the actual engine itself.

There will also be a custom map needed as the 200 map will be set up to use the THP200's virable timing.

If a DS3 racing engine is the same as the 156 thp maybe its turbo would fit instead of the 200 thp and gain more .... this subject seems quite intriging cause i am looking to upgrade the engine maybe change the catalytic converter as well...

It appears the DS3R uses the Mini JCW turbo.

Whack on the JCW tubby and the new intercooler,

Nice backbox and a free flow panel filter.

Remap

Should see you well past 210bhp.

But maybee when you start an engine transformation of this level it's cheaper to sell tour thp156 and buy the 200 or even the 270 version

Always the case when modding cars though

I seriously want to see how far someone will push their THP156, but at the end of the day a slightly modified THP200 will perform better still.

The THP156 lacks a worthy intercooler, and I do not know anyone that has developed one either for the THP156 and not sure if they will. But if anyone knows of one please let me know.

I remember when living in California people would buy V6 Mustangs and then want them to perform like the V8 versions, so why not buy the V8 and make it even better (a real Mustang is one with a V8 in it any ways). The same goes for the RCZ and the THP200, although the 'R' engine is the best thing to do and would rather see someone put one of these in a standard RCZ.

But if you are a petrol head you will always want more even if you can't get any more until you blow the engine and then make it stronger and get more, then blow it again, and build it again, blow it again, and on and on.

So instead of trying to put on a THP200 turbo on a THP156, put a THP200 engine in it.

its always a slog to do the transplant game... but worth it!
I did it with my MGTF... instead of playing around with the 1.8 Rover engine it was transplanted with a K20A from a Honda Type R

instant 220Bhp behind your head... and a lot of new underwear bought.

Hope I didn't upset any THP156 owners, if I did it was not intentional as it still has potential and of course I sell a lot of performance items for it too.

You didn't upset me at all but I think it was perhaps a little unfair to suggest that 156 owners are any less a of petrol head than a 200 owner. I'm quite sure that the same number of 200 owners as 156 (or diesel owners) won't be petrol heads. My own motivation for buying the 156 was price. Yes, I'd have loved the 200 from the outset but the figures didn't stack up. To eh honest, if price hadn't been a limiting factor then I'd have plumped for a GTR!!!

I think it's important to remember that we have different motivations and limitations. For some it'll be price, for some it'll be spec, for others it'll be mileage. However, that shouldn't lead to any kind of elitism or judgement. Now, I'm NOT suggesting that you were doing the latter (you weren't) but, it's perhaps something for us all to consider. Besides...we all chose the right car regardless. :D

Ouch sorry

I didn't think what I said said what you said it does, but I guess interpretation of what is said is key to saying things that can be sensitive. So what was said is still said but interpreting said said needs to be considered before saying such things :)

Don't really think you have anything to apologise for. However, I think you have made my brain explode with your second paragraph!!
