The Banter Thread

I have lost too much money already to prove that I did nothing that warranted my dismissal. Yes I did have an accident and the court accepted that it was not due to a deliberate or malicious act. It was an accident! I had no thoughts that by proving the fact that it was an unfair dismissal would I not be awarded compensation. I assumed that my costs would be covered by this compensation and not from my lifes savings

The RCZ may need to go as a result of this outcome

We have a very different legal system in this part of the country but I read around this for a wee while last night and I still cannot understand how you have been awarded no compensation. It would appear that compensation for unfair dismissal was capped this year to £74,000 but that it is generally awarded for any loss of earnings, stress caused as a result of dismissal, damage to one's career or reputation or in incidences of constructive dismissal. Now...my point is that your unfair dismissal caused you no end of stress, considerable loss of earnings and, in my opinion, is surely therefore due compensation. I'd be taking serious issue with my solicitor for failing to push/pursue this!!!

I'm dumbfounded by this. What has the solicitor who you gave £14k to said? Did he advise of this outcome as a possibility at the beginning?

I was aware that there were "no guarantees" however, I knew my case and was confident that I would prove my case. The solicitor worked out my losses and submitted a claim for £42K+ I was not aware or told that it was possible to win the case and yet not get awarded compensation. I knew in advance that costs are not awarded in Industrial Tribunal cases, but felt confident that the compensation would cover this.

Advice needed. As most of you know, I am not the best with technology and have fallen way behind an infant school child on matters of mobile telephones. However I find myself in a position were by a telephone with GPS and camera would be of great value to me with my current occupation. I basically want to have a sat nav to hand and the ability to take a photo a then zoom in on the image.

So here are the questions,,,,,,,,,,,,will a Samsung Galaxy Ace do this for me?

I was thinking of using my pay as you go sim card and lieving the contract sim in the car (assuming at this point that the car won't need to be sacrificed) Is this a reasonable route to take? Would GPS usage be expensive?

I am totally ignorant on these matters and have no idea how payment/signals are made for the use of GPS.

Help out with the relevant information please. I mention the Samsung Galaxy Ace based on price alone and it came with the relevant sim card compatibility

Using the satnav on pay as you go would be expensive Ron best to use the contract SIM in this scenario.

Receiving GPS is free.
However, the usage of maps is not.
Either you use something like google maps which uses the internet for getting map information so you pay for the internet traffic and how much depends on your subscription. Also, when abroad roaming charges will be added depending on where you are etc.
For this reason I use a TomTom app on my Samsung Galaxy S III with all maps for Europe on SD card so it doesn't require internet access. This is about 4 GB large. It's in Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... rope&hl=en
TomTom is definitely one of the best navigation apps and is easier to use than the NG4.
I've seen in work on the S II too but don't know about the Ace.

So I could buy a cheap phone like the Samsung Galaxy Ace, buy the TomTom app and then al the usage of the mapping is "free?" How would I know if the app would work on this phone?

To be honest RON the free google maps app will do you just fine without paying for expensive apps with traffic updates etc. Google maps can be used as a sat nav and works just fine for this purpose. I even use mine in the car rerouted through the Bluetooth and thus hands free navigation. It's not as efficient as an actual sat nav but it'll do the job. Don't know much about the Samsung you mentioned but I'll have a look and see if I can advise further.
