For real?!?! Man that sucks and I'm REALLY sorry to hear that. That does seem excessive to have been dismissed for that. A written warning seems more than sufficient. What were the grounds for dismissal? I can only think that they have termed it gross misconduct but, again, I can't see how that constitutes either gross misconduct or grounds for dismissal. :thumbdown:

A proposal to seek 14 redundancies being announced at our depot, days before this incident, may have had a bearing upon the outcome. It is not a great position for me to be in and clearly I need to consider all of my options. However seeking an income is now my priority. I always fancied car sales, I was very much into to sales prior to my driving career and believe now is the time to attempt to rekindle this former profession.

sorry to hear your situation ron ...what actually happend was you the driver of the tug !! or was you on what looks like the crane ..or was you just banking the lift !! :?

So so sorry to read about you job.

I've been in & out of jobs a fare bit over the last 12 months, and its bloody hard.

I must say though, I really would look into taking up some advice on your "dismissal", the timing of it seems far to convenient, and seeing as no one was injured "gross misconduct" is very harsh for this.
It's an accident at work, pure and simple, just an accident.
I cant see how they can deem this as sack able :evil:

On a positive note Ron, when I was made redundant from my job after 31 yeas I thought all sorts of bad things were going to happen, but believe me there is life after such things as this.
I'm in a job now with far less responsibility, ok less money, but god I've never been happier going to work.

My point is don't fret over this, life's too short, something always comes up :thumbup:

all good advice jactac .. i more than most have got used to finding work on a regular basis !! in the world of the building industry as of the last 3 years being a sub contract carpenter aint no fun ...as soon as the work dries up on the site you might be lucky enough to get on your up the road !! still all ive ever done since i left school so you become hardend to it ..even if the prices suck :thumbdown: time to get a proper job :wtf:
