Temperature gauge.

Well after it seemed to have settled down - rising normally it suddenly went bonkers rising from one side of the dial to the other several times with a "Temperature fault - stop car" warning flashing in Red on the dashboard and latter a "Compression fault" warning flashing in Red also. It is currently at the dealers awaiting a new temperature sensor to be fitted.
I have had the car from new from 05.03.2011 and it has been in the garage three times - previously for a new spark plug which did not cure the previous fault and was later identified as a faulty ignition coil.
I am very much starting to regret owning an RCZ :(

This is also happening with mine re temperature fault stop car warning flashing in red, I push the excellator and the temp go's back to normal?? Has been happening for three weeks. I informed the service department last wek when they did the 20k service but it is still happening?

Yep, I had the same thing with the Temp going up a lot and "stop car" warnings. It's done less than 10k miles and been in the garage 4 times in the last couple of months. Even had to get roadside recovered on my way to the garage once. (Bad time to find out Peugout's roadside assist runs out after a year.) Now I am getting another engine fault flashing up. Not good when the garage is an hour+ away and last time I drove there the best they did was download an update for the ECU.

:? Hey everyone. Very new to this so bear with me.
I have owned my RCZ from new since Feb 2013 and it has been in the garage for over a week waiting for a new sensor. I don't know why it takes so long. They build these cars all the time so what is the hold up. They told me that Peugeot have given no release date for the part and so I could be without my new car for weeks!! Why is this. Is this normal? Can anyone suggest a course of action for me as want to get this sorted and get my car back?

Sorry to hear about your sensor problems. I presume your car is a petrol version? The temperature sensor issue is a known fault with the petrol variants. I have the diesel version which doesn't appear to suffer from this issue. All I can say is that the temp sensor issue is a well known fault among rcz owners and Dealers alike. I'm fairly certain that the fault has also been logged with Peugeot HQ but there does not appear to be any solution to the problem. I cannot understand why it should take so long to fix an already well documented fault so all I can say is that I hope you have a courtesy car, demand answers and keep logging complaints until you get answers! Good luck!

Hi.
Yes I have a courtesy car with unlimited mileage and unlimited time duration but its a DS3 that is covered with sign writing stickers advertising MOT's for £30 and services for £99. It's a little embarrassing to say the least. Going to complain again tomorrow and see if I can take this further as not impressed now :(.

The temp gauge on my 156 gradually climbs to just under the halfway mark from cold in about 5 mins, it then stays exactly in that position until i turn off the engine, no fluctuation at all.

My 200 does exactly the same, but the sensor needed replacing, which is where you are headed with this variable temp issue

Hi Helen. Once my dealer was committed to the repair, the sensor was ordered and it took a couple of weeks (I kept driving the rcz).

Once the sensor arrived, the dealer booked one day, and did the replacement on that one, pre arranged day.

I must give Trivett motors in Sydney kudos for doing a fine bit of work, in the day, and there has been no hiccups since.

Sorry to here your service is dragging into days, it shouldn't be that long, if planned and executed correctly.

My 2011 RCZ 200 THP had the same temperature sensor issue at 13 months/20k+ km - in addition, the water chamber had to be replaced. In my case, my local Peugeot specialised garage (Geotauto) already had parts and only had the car overnight to fix. At the next service (30k) they checked and replaced another part of the cooling system - I forget what the work order said. Best not to drive the car with temperature sensor errors, running out of coolant would've resulted in engine failure.
