Oh and out of interest, does that particular dealership market itself as "an RCZ specialist"? Mine does and, every step of the way, they have shown a complete and utter ignorance about the model.

That's particularly bad, in that case. How do they get such a title?
By selling enough units. Simply that. Or as I tend to think, the reality is that people buy units from them

I suspect that RON is absolutely correct. However, it is a title bestowed upon them by Peugeot. However, I really think that they ought to pass some type of test to show that it is merited!! Although...that could just be the teacher in me coming through... :eusa-think:

The dealership closest to me is a mile from my house, they are not an RCZ specialist but their customer service is excellent, which as you know is half the battle. Their master technician is trained on most Peugeot models and given that he swapped out the satnav unit in less than an hour, he must be pretty handy on the workings of the RCZ. I believe Perry's MK are an RCZ specialist, as is the dealership in Aldershot. Not sure how many RCZ 'specialists' there are around the country but I would think they would have to send at least one of their mechanics on an RCZ 'awareness' course or something similar in order for the dealer to get accreditation.

When we were looking around for an RCZ this time last year, I had exactly the same problem when I tried to find out if it was possible to retro fit the 'feline' pack, with the inevitable comment coming back from our dealer, "not sure what is in the feline pack, let me just find out on the system".

RCZ specialist or not, if you work for a dealership I would expect them to have a high level appreciation, or more importantly an interest, in the cars manufactured and sold by their company. I guess it is more a case of them needing improved internal communications from their product marketing teams up in Coventry to ensure that the dealer network is fully briefed on the specifics of a new car launch.

Good post Phantom. I agree wholeheartedly! The "master" technician at my dealership did a reasonable job of recutting the rear valance when fitting the feline exhausts and refitting the black grille as whoever did it first time butchered the rear valance and left the chrome bars intact below the grille. *face plant* It took me to point out both errors however before they even realised what they'd done. I even looked at the instructions for the grille and whoever didn't blatantly couldn't even follow them. It took the customer service dept centrally to assist in getting it corrected. Can't fault Peugeot themselves but I've had no end of troubles with my dealership (which are fairly well documented).

Perhaps they are using this very forum to educate themselves, as a few people know they do read a lot of what is written here. I whole heartedly believe that this forum is a one stop shop for the RCZ & Mulberry :). You will not find information about the car like this anywhere else. If only the same hard work & dedication went into training at these so called specialist dealerships.

Back under to the sat nav issue! I had a problem with the flickering screen which took them 6 attempts to fix- including 2 week long stays at the garage. They eventually repaired the screen, and the new screen is more vivid in colours to the old one (in a good way).

(And onto the specialist conversation )I was very disappointed with the whole experience and complained to Peugeot group after the 4th attempt- I said that since the local garage (Oxford) were unable to fix it, I wanted it dealt with by a specialist. They said that the guy in Oxford is a master technician who had lots of experience (to quote He has a lot of experience and specific product training on the RCZ).

They got there in the end, and I have the next major service for free as compensation.

To add to the saga, when I picked up my car from one of its week long holidays at the garage, it had three dents on the drivers door- they did remove those for free.

They also repaired the motor under the passenger seat- I think I burned it out trying to get it to move when there was an obstruction in the way (dozy me), so I had expected to have to pay for the repair, but they did it under warranty :)
