SatNav Broken

Hi all,

I have been having problems with the SatNav on my new RCZ Asphalt, when starting the car after some time of no use the SatNav would show loading data, then an error code showed "Error Code: 0x17 internal error", so I took the car back to my dealer, they rebooted the system and also disconnected the battery for a short time, they thought the problem had been solved but not so. So the car went into the dealers yesterday. When I went to collect the car they said they had not been able to sort out the problem so they had been in contact with Peugeot technical UK, they were not able to help, so someone would contact them from Peugeot technical France well he was also not able to help, so there is a new SatNAv on its way from France to be fitted!

However, I should say I was able to get the SatNav working so I could use it by pressing a few buttons, not something you want to do every time you get in the car!

Pleased to read that a solution has been found. Just hope that you don't have close on 200 albums stored on the hard drive (as I do) as that would be a real mare.

Hi Bob,
Any update

Hi,

I was not ignoring you I only just got the car back  I took it in last week, they said it needed a new unit, so I had to take the car back until the unit arrived. After the new unit arrived, back the car went for the unit to be fitted. The new unit had to come from France. Expecting to collect the car later that day I had a call saying there was a problem, there was no audio from the SatNav and it needed more work to sort out the problem. The garage had talked to Peugeot UK over the problem who said they could not help, they would contact Peugeot France and they would call my garage, which they did but could not help. So the garage said I could either have the car put back together or leave it over the weekend and use the car I had on loan. I elected to leave the RCZ.

The garage was saying to Peugeot the new unit was the problem, they said "no chance and we are not sending another unit", so information from the car was sent to Peugeot France, (oh I forgot to say the diagnostics equipment the garage used could not find any problem). So I am told the garage got a call from Peugeot France and somewhere along the line it was decided that the programming that had to be done after the new unit was fitted was not fully installed, so they did whatever and all was well.

One thing that is good is the new unit has the newer maps and the latest software, we did notice on the way home that the SatNav is now doing things (correctly) that it did not do before, sorry we have both tried to remember what it was but cannot. I have to add this, my wife is convinced after reading "on Google no audio on RCZ SatNav units" that the audio was turned down, whereas the radio could work ok and no one will ever know!

So to sum up, if you ever get a problem with your SatNav it is going to cost a small fortune to fix. ;)

hi, my asphalt has also got a prob with the sat nav unit. it was with the dealership at the time!! as they were fixing another problem( had to change my drivers seat frame as was creaking like an old rocking chair!) the sat nav has come up with a fault on the screen and it says that to rectify software problem to run engine for 25 mins and all will be ok! this was tried and it dont want to know! the unit is buggered and peugeot tech have no clue what to do so france has been contacted and a new unit is on its way. so at present i have no sounds! no blue tooth! no sat nav! no parking sencers!no clock (as i cant re set the time!) they reckon about a week to be delivered and no prob to install.... we will see! and all my music on the hard drive will be lost so when new one is fitted i think a week end ripping cd"s onto new system will have to be done. oh bliss!!

So just thought I would continue the theme of this thread, our satnav has now decided to stop working. Started a few days ago with a flickering screen etc, then progressively got worse until today we have a completely black screen.

Just wondering if these problems are related and whether there was a faulty batch fitted to these three Asphalts, just seems a strange co-incidence especially as our cars would have been manufactured within a few weeks of each other.

I know Peugeot UK frequent these boards and wondered if they had any thoughts on this ?, anyone know who actually manufactures the RCZ's satnav unit? As someone else pointed out at least a new unit will have updated software and maps

Hopefully get the car sorted over the next couple of weeks.

I believe that the sat nav was made by Harman Becker

Our car went into the dealer today, started off well when the technician doing the body inspection etc asked if it was a wrap, lol. Anyway they had the car all day and for some reason they couldn't do the firmware update. Each time it got to 18% complete and then got no further. They have now ordered another update CD to try again next Tuesday. They managed to use a quarter of tank of fuel whilst testing the satnav, but they kindly filled it to the brim for us

If the update doesn't work on Tuesday then they will have to fit a new unit. Joy.....but at least it will have the latest maps. They said you cannot get the maps from Peugeot anymore, you have to go direct to Navteq.

This is they first thing that has gone wrong with the car since we bought it in January, so very pleased so far and certainly no complaints

Well after a couple of trips into our local dealer, our satnav unit was finally replaced this morning and everything is now working fine. The dealer phoned last night to say the unit would be in this morning and by 8:30 I had a call to say the unit had been fitted and the car was ready for collection. Now that must be less than an hour to install, pretty good going I'd say ! Needless to say that my wife was highly relieved to get rid of the 107 courtesy car that she was loaned

Just another quick rant while I am here, the first time we took the car in we overheard the people at the service desk ask "is that RCZ wrapped" and yesterday the service manager noticed a slight scratch on the front wing and said that should "polish out no problem". Do Peugeot UK offer product training for every vehicle in their range ? somewhat surprised that there seems to be limited knowledge out in the dealer network on what the Asphalt model actually is and how the paintwork should be looked after !

That is rather worrying Phantom. I know there aren't many around but you would think Peugeot dealerships would be aware of what they build / sell.

How very fortunate that you were able to head that off at the pass!! I really don't think that dealerships are all that clued up about the range of models that they have on offer. It's terrifying how much more you can know about a car than the dealership selling them even with just a cursory glance on the Internet.

Oh and out of interest, does that particular dealership market itself as "an RCZ specialist"? Mine does and, every step of the way, they have shown a complete and utter ignorance about the model.

That's particularly bad, in that case. How do they get such a title?
