I have the firmware update disc and can get it sent on to you, a couple of other users are just using them at the moment.

I think the disc you have ordered is for the NG4.

The firmware update only give the ability to have 7 digit postcodes if you have the latest maps as well, it might be your maps are up to date and therefore the firmware update is all you need but if not the updates for the maps are also listed later in the thread.

Just pm me your address and I'll get the cd forwarded on.

Same for anyone else who wants the discs.

Chris
Thanks Chris. Just PM'd you.

Hi everyone,
I have recently bought a 2013 RCZ fitted with an RT6, the current software is RNEG2.75.C.5 as Tianorth's, I am after upgrading to 2.80 and it seems that the disc required is 3691737180.

I have the latest map (2014.1) and the speed camera updates installed which all work perfectly.

My question is 'has anyone who has done the RT6 update to 2.80' had any problems ? .. as there seems to be a plethora of people on GPSUnderground who have ruined their units (mainly people with Peugeot 508's) and/or have had parking sensor issues or satellite reception issues.

My main requirement is for the postcode search, and can I assume that there is no postcode search available at all in 2.75 (as I cannot see that option),
thanks

The postcode search is done in the "town" entry line. If you have the latest maps, I assume you will only need the 2.8 disc and then you should be able to input 7 digit UK postcodes.
I have updated my RT6 with the 2.8 disc but as I still have the previous maps installed, not the latest, I can still only input 5 digit postcodes, which is pretty useless really ( I tried it en route to an address in Doncaster recently, and I ended up @ 5 miles from my intended destination).
If you Check back through this thread, you will see that Tianorth has the disc you require.

There was no problem updating the system, just takes a while & you need to have the engine running during the update to stop Eco mode kicking in

ok guys, its done .. and with success !

I downloaded the .iso file from GpsUnderground link on this page ... http://gpsunderground.com/forum/peugeot ... nside.html , I can confirm that this file 140507_1353.ISO is product number 9691737180 (cd #8784) and is suitable to upgrade a RT6 to software version 2.80, in my case I went from RNEG 2.75.C.5 to RNEG 2.80.E.2 the same as Tianorth (see his screenshots earlier in this thread, but check your car/sat nav model number and current software version before proceeding ! )

I had already updated my UK mapping to the latest version 2014.1 using downloads from GpsUnderground using the MEGA link in this page .. http://gpsunderground.com/forum/peugeot ... nside.html and also the Speed Camera database (Alert Zones and Risk Areas) via the link on the same page, these I installed (seperately) via a 4Gb USB stick that I saved the files to, be sure to first run RT6_Mirascript v01.03 found on this page .. http://mira308sw.altervista.org/en/ (you only need to use the RT6_SETTING.CMD to alter the setting of DRM from 1 to 0, this is to get around the Activation request issue .. ie: you will not now be asked for it anymore !) , I suggest you read up on using Mirascript to familiarise yourself on its use before attempting).

As far as updating to v2.80, burn the .ISO file to a cd (I used Imgburn which is available free online .. http://www.imgburn.com/ ), run your car engine and do not turn it off until the process is finished (approx 40 minutes), turn on the RT6 radio/sat nav, select radio, press mode switch until there is no sat nav info on the display then power off the radio (via the 'power' button, now insert the disc.
It will first 'error check' the cd then ask if you want to update, answer Yes ... as I said it takes in total just under 40 minutes, will initially reboot, load in several small files then one very large one, followed by more small files then another very large file, a final reboot and then it is done, at this stage it will have recognised your cd again and will do another error check, when done .. this time answer No to the update and eject the disc .. Job done !

I can confirm that I now have full 7 digit UK postcode ability !!

I'm sure the sat nav on our RCZ that we've just picked up only shows 5 digits. The car was registered just 10 weeks ago so I'm assuming the maps are up to date. Actually just thinking about it should we have received a nav CD with the car?

You don't normally get a 'back up' map dvd.

Check you system firmware/map data version & report back. We should be able to tell you if you should be 7-digit post code capable.

I'll have a look tonight when I get home.

We're waiting for the owners manual in the post as they forgot to include it in the car when we collected, all we got was the service book after checking when we got home. Did I read somewhere that you hold down the setup button in order to get to the menu for checking what the latest software is installed?

Yes, via setup you should be able to check firmware & map data versions.

Being so new, I would've expected you to have the latest.

My R, registered last April came with it already installed.

You could just try inputting a postcode into the "town" line. If it stops after 5 digits you need to speak to the dealership & get them to supply you with the relevant update discs as it should have come with the latest ones installed

When we collected the car I noticed it only did 5 digits.

The car was registered to Peugeot UK on the 18th Nov but don't know when it was built. It only had 23 delivery miles on the clock when we picked it up last Sunday. I've taken some pictures of the various software details on the screen.

You need the 2.8 update disc, as the software version is showing RNEG2.75 I know Chris (Tianorth) has this disc and will post it to you if you pm him.

If you check out the SatNav update thread, you will see a method of downloading the latest maps without having to buy them from Pug.

It may be that the 2.8 update will work anyway, I'm not sure whether you have the latest map as I am not with my car at the moment so I can't check what map version I have compared to you.

In any case, you need to update to Software version 2.8.

I might be an idea to have a word with the dealer, they may have access to the latest maps, software etc, and as you have just given them vast quantities of your hard earned, you could use a little pressure to get the car updated to the state it should have been in when it was handed to you :eusa-think:

@18ME
I'd absolutely insist that the dealer upgrade.......................if he/she values your future custom (sales, servicing, etc).
This car was only "born" a few months ago and should have the latest maps and the 2.80 software.
I would play hard-ball, but then I am an @rsy g*t when it comes to things like this.
Simply not good enough for a new car sale IMHO.

Thanks for the input. Do anyone know when the v2.80 was available? as I can then use this info to try and get an upgrade. If the update only came out in November then I'd probably have no chance but if it came out at least 6 months ago then I would stand a chance.

On the first image I can see that the software version is 2.75 but how can I tell which is the latest maps update? I did take quite a few pictures of the various screens.

I'm not sure when the 2.8 disc became available, Chris (Tianorth) may be able to tell you when he got his, but I'm pretty sure is was prior to November and by some time.

As for the map version, there are a lot of unlabelled numbers displaying on my screen, and I don't have a clue which, if any refers to the map version.

I do know that after I updated my firmware to 2.8 I still only had 5 digit postcodes. That only changed when I did the download/update of the maps as described earlier in this thread, so if you update to 2.8 and you still only have 5, you have the older maps. If you then have 7, all is good.

But in any case, the dealer is the first option imo and as Stagger said, you have the upper hand really, so polite but firm is probably the right approach, and get them to sort it out for you. You shouldn't have any of this hassle after having bought what in effect is a brand new car, and Peugeots "flagship vehicle" at that. :eusa-think:

The 2.80 software has been out there for over a year now, hence my advise to insist, albeit politely, as DKZ rightly states

Email sent to dealer but as they are about 140 miles away I cannot see them being too fussed at losing a future customer. As I actually purchased a used car albeit with just delivery miles on I don't think I have the same arguing power as buying a car that has not yet been registered.

I wonder if Peugeot UK would be any help?

If its just a software update disc that costs less than a tenner then I won't lose any sleep over it but if the maps are also outdated then that's another thing altogether. Still not sure how to find out how old my maps are though.

I doubt Pug UK will be of assistance, as your purchase contract was with the dealer.
So how it goes with them. After all, delivery miles or not , you have shelled out a large chunk of money for the car.
Anyway, if it all comes to nothing tianorth can assist as prev mentioned.

When I got mine in August, I had expected it to have the latest updates installed, especially as it had been a Peugeot UK company vehicle, driven by one of their top execs mainly to France & back (checked directory on sat Nav)

I got straight onto them, and guess what, they could not have been less interested. My dealer was also over 100 miles from me, and they were also not interested - hence I sorted it out myself with the help of some friendly folk on this very forum.

The 2.8 update disc is no problem, a word with Tianorth will sort that. As for the maps, you might not need them, so I would go for the 2.8 update first, then see how you stand. It is quite expensive to go down the retail route, but if you follow the instructions given further back in the thread it is quite possible to sort this out for free.

But, I would still speak with the dealership in the first instance, a bit of flannel about you going to them for the service schedule for the first three years may sway them to help out, even if you have no intention of ever going near them again.

Who knows, they may break the Pug customer service rule, and actually offer to help without any persuasion.
