I have swirls on the silver arches,

can the arches be machined polished with a DA to remove the swirls?

Will it effect the finish?

If this is not possible can you recommend a very good swirl filler which is not abrassive

Thanks

I just don't think machine polishing the arches is the right to do. Just try something by hand starting with something that's not too abrasive and see how that goes and go on from there.

to tell you the truth i do not want to touch the arches with anthing. I only apply wax with no abrasive in it like autoglym HD wax.

there should be a way how to correct swirls on the arches. the longer it goes the more swirl marks we shall have upon and therefore correction will be required. These are mutt in finish and my worry is that if i apply correction with a DA i will eventually alter the finish.

I have polished the arches withcar polish since new in March 2011, currently using Bilt Hamber, arches still look like new.

Thanks bradshaw, is the bilt hamber polish abrassive?

which polish from the range do you use?

do you apply it with a rotary or a DA buffer?

Thanks

There are 2 polishes that I use , Cleanser Polish, has a slight cutting edge and Hydra wax which contains carnuba, I use both with amazing results, applied by hand, never owned a machine in over 40 years of motoring.

Isn't cleanser a filling polish? And Hydra wax is a wax, not a polish - sorry to be pedantic but there is a difference:)

Hi Cleanser polish contains micro abrasives and is a very good filing product and will hide lighter swirls well and if really worked in well by hand you will get a very slight correction

with hydra wax on top this will also have a slight filling effect

they make a good pair for people not wanting to use a machine

Yes but i am not to happy with fillers, it would be better to correct once and maintian that correction without trying to inflict any swirls.

If anyone knows re whether the arches can be corrected kindly post how and the products recommended.

Why don't you try Gtechniq P1 by hand? It corrects and if you concentrate on the specific areas where you have a problem or try a small corner of the arch first.

thanks rcz1. i am quiet un easy to touch the arches with anything after i saw your paint gauge readings. the swirls are increasing by the day. i use soft microfibre cloths. power wash the car and use a foam lance. i try not to touch the car, but still its impossible not to get swirls. i think that there should be method to either hide or else correct and experimenting is not an option for me. here in malta dust is every where especially in summer. one can easily scratch the paint by passing over a finger on the paint as the fine dust will leave its marks.

Maybe the solution is to get your arches vinyl wrapped. That will make them look like new and offer protection. :) :)

I think a black or carbon wrap on your white rcz would look fab!
