RCZ-R

Hi all,

Seriously considering a move to the RCZ-R, test drove one recently and was impressed.

I was thinking of Morrocan red as it looks really smart. Strange as it sounds the other car we are considering is the Golf R. My dealer reckons there's some good deals to be had if I order before the end of the month, is he possibly trying it on or do you think as it's the end of a quarter they haven't hit their targets and he is telling the truth?

Well if u want a golfR order one now and it'll be here about March next year the waiting times have gone up from 4 months to 6. Worth the wait but it's a long wait. GolfR's quicker better built sounds better a tunning box for £499 will give U 355bhp. Could go on but I'm biased I drove both and preferred da golf ;)

I'd go for the RCZ-R not t'other R, but then I'm biased.
To be fair the VW is likely to hold its value better, but then you just have to look at the RCZ-R and to me there is no contest.
It goes as good as it looks.
If its right that Peugeot are stopping the RCZ range soon then the R could end up a future classic - obviously in a few years yet.
Anyway - Horses for courses really. Its a heart or head choice (he says mixing his metaphors.)

WRT your comment about the dealer. Dealers tend to have end of week targets, and end of month targets. They will flog their granny for a fiver at the end of the month. Best time to buy really (no, not the granny), but don't feel pressurized by the dealer. End of this month is probably a good time to get a deal mind. New 64 reg cars came out beginning of this month. so the dealers will be awash with trade-ins and wanting offload their stock.

Yep. I got my 6 month old 'R' for sub 23k - so a 1/3 off the MRRP. (MRRP is over £32k mate + metallic + other bits'n'bobs.)
I know it will drop more - but I don't regret the choice one little bit.

That was a great price. I was looking last week and the cheapest I could find was £24995!!!!

I was told about the Golf R waiting list and to be honest if I decide on the Golf I don't mind waiting.

Just got lucky I guess. Dealer dropped the car a couple of K and I pulled the trigger immediately.
There are deals to be had, especially after the new Reg's come out and dealers need to shift stock.
I suspect there will be the odd bargain out there before this month end if you keep you eyes pealed.

Depends what you want out of a car.
This is a little bit of an apple and pears comparison in some ways. The RCZ-R is a hot pretty 2+2 coupe, with Peugeot Sport pixie dust sprinkled on it. The Golf R is a very capable and (very) hot hatch - but clearly not a coupe.
It depends what you are in the market for - a coupe or a hot-hatch.

I'd simply go and test drive both cars. That'll make your mind up once and for all either way. They're both very different but equally impressive cars in their own right. You're on to a winner either way IMO.

Id have to choose the RCZ R simply based on looks, thats what I base most of my buying criteria on when i buy something. The golf to me just looks like a..... well a..... golf lol! To joe public he sees a golf its a golf but I find with an RCZ anyone and everyone seems to take a secong look...... Certainly on performance the Golf wins hands downs, most of these cars are bought on PCP anyway so residual values arent an issue, as long as the payment suits the pocket who cares lol

Good morning fellas. Interesting read this. I've just placed my order for the golf R. Gutted my time with the Rcz is coming to an end. But I'm afraid something more "practical" ;-) was needed. I don't think it'll ever give me the "butterflies in my stomach feeling" the Rcz gives me. The Rcz R is a stunning car.

I went for something more practical thr my old ashphalt in the form of an mk3 st2 last November. Less than a year on and got another ashphalt parked on the drive after going to collect it yesterday. As soon as I got back in it, I got a huge smile on my face.

A fine choice to replace the RCZ Seamus!! As with Mac, I'm intrigued by the colour and spec that you've plumped for. It'll certainly give you butterflies in your stomach as you boot it. They're awesome driver's cars!! I'm beginning to think that I chose the wrong career though, fancy an apprentice hairdresser? ;)

I am old! As such, I have had many cars, including a golf TDI which, I know is a long long way off an R but, nevertheless, it was a Golf.
My RCZ is THE first and only car I have ever had that has had this effect on me.

I go to the window and stare out at it. I can't wait to run out of something - anything, so I can just "nip to the shops".

If there ever was a car that can revive your pleasure in "just driving" then, & I know this is just my opinion, it is the RCZ.

Yesterday, while out, there were no fewer than 7 different pairs/ groups of people looking round my car, most of which went round the back, clearly looking to see what it was.

Now I'm pretty sure if a Golf R had been parked there, not one person would have done that.

It's impossible to argue about residuals, Golf every time. Reliability ? Watch this space. Driving pleasure RCZ hands down winner.

My GT200 is my first RCZ. From what I have seen so far, it's unlikely to be my last.
Everyone has an opinion, but it's your own that means the most. Just listen to others and use their experience to your benefit.
Make your own informed decision - THEN GO AND BUY AN RCZ

Afternoon gents. Having spent a few days convincing Mrs Seamus that the golf was the way to go, due to its four wheel drive (perfect for getting to meadowhall in the snow ;-) ) I left the colour choice to her. I ordered the White manual version. True, not as quick as the dsg but I can live with that. Did I mention the 300 bhp to her? Nah, no point really. I'll keep that as a surprise. :)
