RCZ private plates.... ?.

Hi all,

Since buying my new RCZ I've been contemplating purchasing a private registration plate specific to the RCZ.
As much as I want to post my likes/favourites, I think I'd be setting myself up for trouble

All said and in all seriousness, has anybody spotted what they deem the most relevant plate for an RCZ. After all, a class car deserves a classy plate, agreed?

Would be interested to hear your thoughts?

Add-on...

If you weren't spending upwards of £1000.00 on a reg. plate, what mods would you consider. Interested to hear what others have done..

Why 'waste' money on a plate that would look daft on any other car? Why not invest in a plate that's personal to you, that will last your driving lifetime????

Thanks Donna I totally get your point but this plate would be a cherished for the period of time in which I own an RCZ. Should I choose to move to an alternative motor then of course would look to sell, I'm sure there'd be buyers

And in answer to your question, I've looked for quite sometime to find a personalised plate, but nothing unless I want to spend ridiculous amounts..

Hi CityGent

For me, a personal plate should be just that, personal to you NOT the car. When you sell the car, you would have to sell the plate with it whereas if you get something with your name or initials, then you can keep it forever and keep moving it on to all subsequent cars. That's just my opinion and that way you really get value for money out of the plate.

£1k is a lot to pay out for a plate that will only last as long as the car. You could put that money towards the Sat Nav system or Xenons or if you really wanted, the carbon roof. So many different options to enable you to make the car YOURS, some cheaper than others.

Having said that, it is your car, so you do what YOU want to do with it. Whatever you decide, have fun with it :)

Go for a "personal" plate, one you will keep with you for future car purchases.

Thanks RCZ1, it seems as though I'm being a little deluded, perhaps I should look at a personal plate! I'm happy in the mind that when I ordered the motor I did get carried away with the extras, so very fortunate in that respect. Was just keen to hear on what others had done...

I'm with those calling for a personal plate. I got one for my 30th last year and love it. I personally think it's a waste of time and money to put a car specific plate on a car. Use the money elsewhere on the car I say. My plate cost significantly less than a grand and have added mods to my car. I suggest a personal plate and spank the money on some really nice mods to make the car stand out and personal to you. Depending on whether yours is a mark 1 or 2 there are a range of things to go for. I would put the money on a mesh grille for a mark 1 or black pack on a mark 2, bang in a K&N performance filter and some performance quad exhausts (which really balances the rear of the car and adds symmetry) and you've got yourself an even more unique car. Word of warning about the exhaust system, this could invalidate aspects of your warranty so check these out first.

Agreed mate, I get every bodies point... It's probably in my best interest to delete this post as I'm gonna get hammered by members telling me how foolish my idea was. All said mrizzle, your valid points are noted and taken onboard!!

I have seen various posts concerning the quad exhausts, love the uniqueness but don't like the idea of the warranty becoming invalid..

Just scrambling around on the dvla website to find a personalised plate, thanks to everybody once again

Don't put yourself down. I'm sure many of us have thought about doing the same thing and you should do what YOU want to do!! Is your RCZ a mark 1 or a mark 2? If it's a two how long is left on your warranty? Visit RCZperformance's site and you'll see the full range of things a able for your pride and joy. What spec and engine is it?

No you don't want to delete it. Everyone has different ideas and opinions. We can't agree with them all can we ?

You can only do what's right for you and what you want to do. When I got my private plate I was going down the same road of thinking get something linked to the car but my OH made me see sense and persuaded me to get my initials instead (my name would cost a small fortune). I'm so glad I listened to him. I've had it nearly 11 years and I wouldn't be without it now.

Some people think its vain, I just see it as another way of personalising your car.

Let us know what you decide on ad happy hunting :)

Mrizzle I assume its a mark I (presumably mark IIis the facelift?), registered 31/12/2012.. Therefore she's still a baby with almost the 3 years warranty left, think I'd be a little foolish to jump on the quads at this time, agreed? I'll check out rcz performance and see if there's anything that jumps out.

Spec:

GT156
Nappa leather
Pearlescent white / black mirrors
NG4 Nav
Interior sports pack
Vision pack
19" solstice

If you get the Zunsport quads, they do not enhance performance, just purely cosmetic so will not affect your warranty and shouldn't cost you extra on your insurance either.

That's very good. Look forward to seeing pics of them on your car. Nice spec of car you've got too. Pearl white - lovely colour. You've certainly got good taste ;)
