RCZ Engine Vibrations

I have a Peugeot RCZ 1.6 THP 156 (156bhp) Petrol (16v) FWD (1598cc) - T75 (2010-2016) Coupe (Year: 2012). She has covered 31,000 miles.

There is a persistent vibration coming from the engine, felt both when driving and when stationary. This has been looked at by a trusted service garage who say they are familiar with the engine as they service them in Peugeot and Mini cars. When I took the car in to them they also had another Peugeot in with the same engine, a 308 if I remember correctly. They fired that up and compared vibrations, both cars had similar vibrations, which are mainly felt through the steering wheel as a high frequency vibration which on a longish drive seems to make my finger tips tingle. The car is in good condition fully serviced with no obvious issues. The service tech took the fact that both cars had the same vibration as a sign there was nothing to be done, but it could be there is a fault which has affected both mine and the other Peugeot. Does anybody have any knowledge of this issue ?
Thanks

Joe

The Engine mounting in front of the timing cover was a Known issue on earlier models & they were prone to heat damage if your engine has the shakes then its one plausible explanation maybe even be gearbox mount unless you have underlying mechanical faults which can also cause the same symptoms aka misfires timing configuration affecting fuel/air mixture a lumpy idle maf & map sensor dirty etc etc

Hi Pedro,

Thanks, do you know of any engine servicing companies who specialise in RCZs. I see you‘re in Cheshire but I would travel if I knew I was going to someone who ‘knows’ RCSs. I have spoken to a several service providers locally, including Peugeot dealerships who want £117 diagnostics fee to start with, but give me no confidence they have experience of vibration faults.

Try an Indie garage & see if they can take a look poss scan the ECU you also need to get the car on a ramp so the vibrations can be looked at from below the engine/gearbox but thinking about this problem reminds me of a few years ago when I was asked to look at car with a similar problem & that had a defective steering rack & which I believe it is not unknown to fail on the RCZs so it may be steering related with vibration through the column & it is electric so could even be an electrical fault?
I do all my own services & repairs but have no ramp as I said it sounds like it needs a good inspection to determine what is actually causing the issue I suspect the MD will scan it for running issues from the ECU first then start to go through the mechanical side of things adding to the hefty costs involved should you unfortunately end up in a Dealers
