RCZ Asphalt Parking Sensor

Hi, I am trying to find the part number for the parking sensor for my Asphalt, my Peugeot garage say they are unable to replace it with the body matched sensor due to something about the paint, I have to take it to a specialised Peugeot dealer. I have a friend who works at BMW and he says the parking sensors should not be painted. So can anyone help with this problem?

Thanks,

Bob.

PM me your Vin number.

But as the parts list say they are primered but not painted.

Vin may give more details.

Have you though about getting a touch-up paint stick?
They are about £10 from Peugeot dealership.

Might be able to paint a sensor with the brush.

Hi, I just contacted my friend at BMW as he has got me some paint for other cars I have had, hopefully he will be able to get me a small amount. Thanks for the tip re the touch-paint, I will ask when I take the car in for service in a few days.

Hi all,

I have been told by my dealer there are no "touch up sticks" for the Asphalt or any other Matte paint. When I took my car in for it's service they removed the faulty sensor for me which was good of them as they did not charge. What they did find however, the parking sensors are "not" painted in the Matte paint but normal grey gloss paint, so my question is does anyone know what the paint code is for the grey paint on the sensors?

Thanks,

Bob.

I would presume that the grey colour would be the same as the grey for that time period your car was built.
You could ask Peugeot UK HQ to find out!

Hi, Thanks for your reply, I will give them a call Monday, I must say the last time I phoned Peugeot, not sure what it was for but they did not have a clue.

Unfortunately the people who are on the phone don't seem to know their products. Push for it to be passed to someone technical.

Hi tianorth, I went today to have the new parking sensor fitted and they tell me the mounting bracket is damaged, they are saying these brackets are not available and I would need to get a new bumper. The cost of the bumper plus painting and fitting is going to be around £500 to £600, so can you confirm the mounting brackets for the parking sensor on the rear bumper and not available and are part of the bumper. To me something is wrong if you are not able to buy the mounting brackets and the price goes from £80 to over £600! Looking forward to your reply. HB :(

So does that mean that you are not able to repair the existing brackets say with fibreglass?
Did they show you where these brackets were and how they were damaged?

Pass. I have the damaged bracket and I did get the sensor in place in the bracket just using electrical tape, however, because the bracket has come off the bumper they are saying this is the problem. From what I have been told the brackets are mounted/fitted/part of the bumper I just don't know. HB

Well the brackets must have been plastic welded or something in the first place.
I'll have a look at the weekend to see if I can find the brackets.

Can you post picture of the bracket and sensor, to give me an idea of what they look like to be able to spot them.

I have absolutely no idea what these brackets look like, or how they connect to the bumper, but I do know that there are adhesives out there that can stick almost anything to anything.

As far as I can see there are no major stresses on these brackets, as they are not under any kind of load as such. If the price difference had been smaller between a repair & a replacement, I could see why it would not be worth the attempt, but if you are talking over £500 difference, it's a no brainer that a repair should at least be attempted before simply throwing it away & buying a new one.

Hi, thanks to all who replied, I have today fitted the sensor into the bracket, secured it with cable ties all I now need to do is find how to remove the bumper, I will then have a go at fitting the sensor back, I would like to do this as I have sold my RCZ and would like it to be working before handing it over.
Regards, HB

Hi tianorth, Thanks for the information on the rear bumper, I have managed to get the sensor in the bracket, if I get time today I am going to have a look to see how easy it is to get the bumper off. I will let you know if I manage the job.

Thanks, HB
