Pre Wash

G'day one and all. The detailers amongst you have kind of planted a seed deep within that makes me want to give amber some proper love and affection. I have one small issue which is the snowfoaming. I do not have a pressure washer, nor the funds to buy one and living in a 2nd floor apartment its not exactly practical to have one even if I did have the wonga. So my question really is, is there a pre wash replacement or product that would work with just a hose pipe out there that will help? Detail kings and queens I await your response  with kind thanks in advance.

What you need is Valet Pro Advanced ph Snow Foam, diluted 1/20 down to 1/10 or (1/30 for lightly soiled cars), a garden chemical pressure sprayer from Wilkinson's (somewhere cheap), like this

and away you go. As you spray you can visibly see it breaking down the dirt and it running off the car. Rinse thoroughly and then you are ready to wash.

I use this often as its a blooming good cleaner and even better than using it as a normal snow through a lance. Used it yesterday when I cleaned my husband's car. You can also use it as a wheel cleaner too. It is the best cleaner I've ever used :)

Edit: I've posted a link to the Advanced Snow Foam as there are several similar products

There are hand pumps but they really cannot produce the kind of thickness to make sbow foaming worthwhile. What I'd personally recommend is a really good pre wash. The Valet Pro Citrus Pre Wash is fantastic and inexpensive with a good dilution ratio.

I use it through a good hand pump. You're better spending money on a good one rather than a cheap B&Q number. I'd recommend the Kwazar Venus Pro+.

Alternatives that do come highly recommended elsewhere come from the Mesto range but, to be honest, they're so pricey that you'd be as well buying the cheapest Nilfisk PW and a lance.

Thanks young lady and young gents. I hadn't even thought of your ideas and I'm liking the sound of your suggestion K, I like the idea of using a snow foam so the pressurized container is a good way to apply it. The initial expense for all the bits pieces and products will be a sum but it will all last me a long time  Will have to be choosy when doing it as I have no real shade available and will all have to be done in a day as my parking spot is under a rather nuisance conifer that likes to leave its pollen immediately all over Amber :-:)twisted::twisted:

Have you considered using a TFR (Traffic Film Remover?) these too work via a pressure bottle and are incredibly effective. I'm sure our detailing Queen can put more meat onto the bone about this suggestion/idea. :eusa-think:

Just so not to confuse you young man, it won't actually foam up like normal snow foam in the chemical sprayer. It's more liquidy (is that a word?) but it really does shift the dirt. Leave it to dwell for 5 minutes, then rinse off.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone using a TFR on a regular basis. They are very aggressive and not really required with such good products on the market these days.

Thanks young lady, that's good to know on both counts. I'm not fussed that it won't foam up as much just as long as its doing a job. It sounds like it will so in the not to distant future I shall be trying it

Mac, thanks for your kind offer but I'm going to give the pressurized container ago. Top bloke for the offer, this forum and most importantly, its members are blooming awesome! Go team RCZ!

Just doing a bit more research into all things detailing and compiling a wishlist and have a question or 2. Is it ok to use iron x and rinse off with a hose pipe as on the clean your car site it says to use a pressure washer? Secondly, is it advisable to use iron x as well as a tar remover? Apologies for the detailing newbie questions

If u by trix from same company that do ironx it's does the job that ironx does and removers tar as well. Both in 1 bottle and its the same price. And yes u can rinse with just a hose.

Highly recommended from my side as well

Including wearing rubber-gloves while using it!
