Well today a nice man from DPD brought me my order.

I've got the Auto Finess Snowfoam and the Wheel Cleaner and the Foam Gun. So over the weekend I shall be giving them a good test run on both cars.

The nice man from DPD says that he delivered my order today too. Unfortunately he is currently the only person who know where he left it

I was told it was arriving today. Yesterday I was told that they had not got so could not deliver it yesterday. Today I got told it would be delivered today and then that it had been delivered, however it hasn't been

Yes you read that right and that is the correct sequence of events

Ok so I've been experimenting today on the 500.

My car cleaning experience to date hasn't been with anything more specialist than products from Autoglym, Zymol and Meguiars.

First of all the Foam Gun and the Snow Foam. Not good is all I can say. I had the gun on level 5 which should have given the strongest concentration. The instructions do say that If your Water Pressure is Low or you live in a Hard water area you might need tohave a stronger solution in the bottle (We live in limescaleville) So when I come to do the RCZ tomorrow I will have to put an awful lot more snow foam into the bottle, because today it was more like soapy washing up liquid and it was on the floor in a matter of seconds.

1/10

Moving onto the Auto Finesse Wheel Cleaner, that did fair a lot better than the gun and foam, but I can't say I was blown away by it. I've always been used to wheel cleaners that foam up when they come out of the trigger. The Auto Finesse product was a fine mist and I can see why they say use liberally. It certainly needed a brush to agitate the product and when I did that rather than using a wheel mitt the results weren't bad. It probably didn't help that it had been a fair few weeks since it was cleaned by the local Afghani boys and that the wheels are black. I'll see how it fairs tomorrow when I do the RCZ as there isn't really much of a build up of dirt.

5/10

Wel...............

At the moment I'd be inclined to go with your viewpoint Ron. But I'll not write it all off just yet, What I don't want to find is that I'm having to use 1/3 litre of snow foam solution to do 1 wash.

Which snow foam did you go for? I have never used a snow gun before but would wonder if they're truly capable of replicating the effects of a snow lance connected to a pressure washer? I'd be inclined to invest in the latter Catherine. They're absolutely invaluable and will pay for themselves in the time and effort that they save.

Catherine you may need to add less water to it to make it thicker. Having said that I'm not sure that Avalanche is actually a really thick foam anyway but try less water.

Have you got your alloys protected on your 500 or your RCZ? If not I suggest you do then you will have no need for the wheel cleaner. Only when the wheels need re-protecting would you need to use a wheel cleaner.

I have a Bosch in the shed. Hate the thing and I think it's been used once. I'll try again tomorrow Rizz and see what happens. The foam is Auto Finesse Avalanche.

Hi Kerry, no the wheels aren't protected. I'm getting sealant on my next order. I'm probably being a bit harsh on the wheel cleaner in all fairness

I'll up the snow foam quantity tomorrow for Zebedee and report back. Should have taken a photo today really to show you just how bad it was.

My detailing neighbour (the rest of the street thinks we are nuts) swears by Avalanche. It's not the thickest foaming snow foam that I've seen but it does a cracking job.

Here's a link to a review of it which shows the thickness that I've witnessed...and the cleaning power that it contains in case it's of help/interest:

That's fantastic Rizz and thank you.

I can confirm that my block paving did for a short time look like your neighbours :) However the car didn't!

The more I think about it, it has to be down to the volume of product/water dilution rate. I was also just thinking about how soapy my autoglym car shampoo gets and it doesn't really. I'll hold my hands up and say I'd not really thought about the hard water aspect before.

Ok, so here are the results.

Hot Water used, mixture shaken - increased 400 ml of solution (up from 200).

Results are very very poor. I'm going to email Polished Bliss for their thoughts, because whilst I don't expect the results to be as good as a pressure washer, I also don't expect them to be this poor either.
