Anybody had issues trying to remove dipstick to read oil level, mine seems to be 'stuck' i don't want to pull away at it as i don't want anything to snap and be rattling about in the engine.

Any issues? Any fixes?

Me too. Just give it a tug. It should be ok! It's a bit of nuisance though!!

Remember it has an O ring seal round it, to help manage emissions. This is what makes it a bit of a tug. You've got to slide the O ring out of its sealing tube.

The dip stick does come out a little bit, but it seems that the metal bits of bottom of the dip stick are getting caught some where to stop it from been fully pulled out.

I've tried rotating the stick whilst pulling it out.
It will come out about 15-20cm from its normal resting place, then stops.

Well, that rules out the O ring. Does the bottom of the dipstick look damaged in any way? Could you show us a photo? Or, is it completely stuck?

I'd love to get it out.

It seems that the metal 'rings' on the dipstick seem to get stuck around the top of the engine block before it comes out of tube.

As i say i don't want to tug away on it just incase something comes off and ends up rattling about the engine.

Just broke the end of my dipstick today. The end piece is still stuck in the oil tube container. Anyone have this happen to them? Any ideas how to get it out guys? :wtf:

Maybe Abs or someone can get a screen grab of the oil filler tube (from the parts catalogue) to see how it fits together to see if it can be dismantled!

I realise you need to get the broken part out, but anyone who hasn't broken theirs yet, it's pretty much pointless taking it out in the first place. I haven't managed to see the oil level on mine once :eusa-think:

i know its not a major issue but i'd like for it to be fixed nonetheless. its due for a service anyway this month so i might have to resort to the dealer to fix the problem.

anyone got a part no. for the dipstick itself so i can order a new one?

Aloha from sunny South Africa. I recently bought a Peugeot 207 CC and discovered that the dipstick also pulls out like 100mm and then simply gets stuck, so I opened the sump to check it out. I discovered that there is a bad design in the dipstick guide setup, it looks like when you insert the dipstick that it can miss the hole that leads to the bottom of the sump and end up somewhere in the oil pump chain that can bend and break the dipstick backwards.. I found the end of my dipstick missing and the tip of the wire spring bend back 180°. Luckily I didn't try to force out the dipstick as it was caught on a plastic guide that can break with enough force. This is a terrible design flaw and I can see it happening again. I think I will keep the top end to close the dipstick hole and keep the new dipstick in the trunk and only use it to check the oil. Hope this helps some of you
