I'm not disputing for one moment that you wont be getting the work done, why would i ?
i was just offering some friendly with regards to having work done outside of a dealer and keeping all your records up to date, in case of a warranty issue at a later date.
In my case we bought a brandnew Corsa from a local dealer and had all the serving done at the dealers, then like you i decided to purchase the oil ect seperatly from the main dealer parts dept for an intrim oil change but paid a local gareage to do the actual oil change, simply down to costs, and like you i was told this was ok.
Some months later the cam shaft failed on the Corsa and i put a claim in under the warranty, however because my service book had not been stamped for the intrim oil change by the dealer (local garage stamped it) and like you i had the receipts for the oil ect that i purchased from the dealer, but this no made no difference in my argument as i couldnt prove the "dealer" oils were actualy used . I basical had two seperate invoices, one from the dealers showing i had purchased the parts and one from an outside garage showing a labour charge for an oil change, but this made no difference at all to Vauxhall UK.
Vauxhalls argument was basicaly "take it up with the local garage that done the last oil change". They were adamant that the cam shaft failed due to the oil change being done incorrectly or wrong grade of oil being used. Which was total nonsense.
I had months of hassle trying to get the cam shaft work done under the warranty, in the end i had to pay out around £600 for the work to be done and managed to claim back from Vauxhall £400 as a "goodwill gesture" this was after getting my solicitor involved and luckily him finding a piece on Google about a recall on Corsa's with the same engine as ours that had developed the exact same fault as ours did, without this recall i had no proof that the cam shaft had failed through a manufacturering fault and nothing to do with my local garage changing the oil.
I must point out that it was Vauxhall UK themselves that were the stumbling block, my local Vauxhall dealer was bending over backwards to try and sort things out, but just could not get Vauxhall UK to pay out under the warranty.
Anyway just a bit of an headsup regarding this sort of thing, as sometimes you think all is ok until something goes wrong and you find yourself doing this :brickwall:
