NG4 Wip Com 3D - need an image for the HDD

Hello everyone,

I am looking for a working HDD image for an NG4 or Wip Com 3D unit. I have a RCZ THP 200 from 10/2010.

I have a unit that is stuck in a bootloop, meaning it only displays the message that a system check is being carried out and that you should not turn off the engine for at least 25 minutes. However, this message doesn't go away anymore, not even after a long drive. Nor does it go away after disconnecting the battery, pulling the fuse, using the key combination 1, 3, 5, or CD eject and Mute...

I think the HDD has crashed or parts of the partition are damaged. Therefore, I want to install a new HDD or CF card, but for that, I need a working image with the 4 partitions. I think cloning my HDD won't do any good, since the cloned file would then have the same errors...

I would be very grateful if someone had this file or could create it and make it available to me. I really want to get the device working again!

Simply cloning the image to the existing HDD will not work.

Yes I bought a Toshiba MK4050GAC which should fit.

Yes I think so too, because I would clone a damaged image.
Thats why I need a working image so that I can copy that to the new HDD I bought recently.
Can you help me? Do you have an image?

Unfortunately no. I'm not sure if anyone has one. Moreover, I do not think you need one even.

New HDD will be empty on first load and the NG4 will detect it. NG4 has a separate storage for recovery files, which should allow your NG4 to format the HDD and then install new update to it.

Just make sure to have USB with the newest update ready. Once the update is installed, its very likely the NG4 will work, you then just need to install the maps and you're probably good to go.

i bought a "new" used one. Should be in good condition.
Thats why i think i have to prepare the hdd.
I would connect it to an ide to usb connector to my computer.
Then i would delete any partition and formate it to fat32 and 64kb.
Then i would change this hdd to my existing one which is dead.

Is that the right way? Or do I have to prepare it differently?
I have prepared a usb stick (8gb, fat32, 64kb) and copied the firmware n42c on it (.def and and 1 folder)
Did you test it yourself? So booting an empty hdd only with the usb stick ans firmware?

Today I tried to get my nav running again.
I took the old hdd out and placed the new one in (before I deleted all partitions and formatted it to fat32 64kb).
Then I connected the battery again, waited 2 minutes.
Then I turned the ignition on and waited 2 minutes again.

The display went up and was black. Wenn down after half a Minute, turned up and Showed
The same message like before "System check in progress. Please wait and Do not switch off the engine for 25min".

I waited about 25minutes then, but nothing changed. While waiting the screen sometimes went off/on or wrnt in/out.
But no visual firmware Update.

I dont know what to Do now?
Maybe it is not just a damaged hdd?

Are you sure the FIRMWARE usb stick is recognized? Sometimes computers keep some hidden files on it while copying - those need to be removed.

I formatted the 8gb USB 2.0 Stick to fat32 and 64kb with Windows.
I went into the root of the stick and clicked on the menu "Show Hidd data or folders" and
There is nothing Else on the Stick.
Then I unpacked the zip-folder of the n42c firmware on my computer and copied the .def and the folder with the data itfels on the Stick.
Now there are only these two items on the usb stick.

Should I check more?

I dont thick that it recognised it. Maybe it doesnt boot so far that it could realize that there is a firmware
Stick in the usb slot

Update:
Today I tested a different usb stick (4gb, usb 2.0, fat32, 32kb) and on the Stick were two files: .def and 1 folder with 17 files in it. The usb stick doesnt even light oder blinkt while it plugged in.
Tested to plug it in bevore turning the iginition on and also while the ignition was on.
Doensnt do anything.
Also a long press on eject and mute only triggers a new boot. But there is always just the "System check message on the screen"

Make sure to follow this when preparing the USB stick for firmware update.

1. Check your installed firmware version via SETUP -> Settings -> Version Information
2. If you see N42c anywhere in the presented firmware version you already have the latest firmware and you do not need to update it. You can move to the MAP updating part of the guide. If you do not have the latest version, proceed to step 3.
3. Download this file: LINK
4. Prepare USB 32GB or SD CARD formatted as FAT32, 64KB Cluster size.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FORMAT VIA WINDOWS AND DO NOT USE QUICK FORMAT. The regular format will take more time, but it is absolutely necessary.

5. Extract the downloaded file and put all files into the ROOT of the USB/SD CARD. Enable in Windows to view "hidden files" and check if any file other than that of the firmware generated in the root of the USB / SD CARD. If you see any "rogue" files, delete them.
6. Turn on the car. Keep it running and insert the USB or SD CARD into their locations (SD CARD in front of the Console, USB under the armrest).
7. If you followed the guide the NG4 system will automatically detect and prompt you to start the update. Click yes on the console and wait for it to finish.

KEEP THE CAR RUNNING UNTIL IN FINISHES WITH THE UPDATE. You do not want the car to turn off and cancel the update. It could destroy your system.

8. When the NG4 resets check the firmware version again. If you see N42c the update was successful.

Actually it is not possible to get in the update menu while pressing the setup-button a long time.
Like I wrote it is stuck in the bootloop and there is only the message that it performs a "system-check".
There is no possibility to get out of this message.

I would guess the HDD is not your issue, its most likely something else then.
