There was a red car for sale privately recently with 29,000 miles. It was advertised at £14,500 and didn't sell. It then went back to Alpha cars and they advertised it for £15,995 and it has sold quickly.

I'm surprised it passed an MOT when there is a fault for automatic headlamp adjustment. I thought that would be an automatic failure.

I think most buyers will want to trade their current car in and often require finance.
I would be surprised if that car sold for the asking price, must have sold against a trade in , hence you can’t tell the sale price.

You can't tell what anyone is really paying. There will always be haggling and especially for cars that have been on sale for a while.

The price paid would still be clear. The value of the trade in would be deducted.

shove it through an MOT that’s usually attached to the garage or has a “special relationship” with and often repairs aren’t sufficiently done anyway.

I think the scale of this problem is getting worse than ever. It is something that needs serious attention.

It’s also the same with service stamps, how many people have a service receipt to match the stamp in the book, very rare these days, to many people with fake stamps.

Agreed that is also a real issue. It is often hard to know for sure a service history is genuine. There is a lot of people putting fake stamps in their book.

With GDPR rules car dealers often bin all receipts that have identification on them.

It is the fake MOT that are the biggest concern. Garages are knowingly having dodgy MOT tests carried out as they want a clean MOT to help the sale. They don't fix the problems.

Test stations being a part of the trade opens it up to that sort of thing. It’s a government rule that cars have to be declared roadworthy every year but they often leave it in the hands of folk attempting to make money one way or another. It would probably cost far too much to have standalone test stations that were entirely staffed by uncorruptable government mechanics all the same

It seems that the cheaper R’s have all disappeared from auto trader, presumably all sold leaving the lower mileage examples still for sale, plus the hideous orange wrapped one!

good luck with those guys on here selling theirs, it’s very quiet in the trade at the moment and cars don’t seem to be selling quickly.

I bought my R over 5 years ago. In that time it has always been the cheap cars that sell first. Price is more important than condition.

The white car was on sale for £9895 for a while, but they raised the price to £10,200 days before it was removed from AutoTrader.

It was the same car Cazoo were selling a few months back. AlBuck on here had provisionally bought it, but the car had issues. Cazoo passed it on so I'd be concerned.

agreed with prices, I bought my R early 2023 and prices have dropped a bit, the difference between a £10k car and a £15k one is a big gap.

I thought Cazoo had gone bust

Yes it seems price is more important than condition, but a bad R can cost quickly if the brakes for example are bad, not to mention other stuff, hence it can make for a poor buy.
Looks like we will have to give ours away at this rate!

Cazoo are in administration. The white R was with Cazoo a while ago. It'll be in this thread I think.

Are you not getting much interest?

The thing with brakes is they are wear and tear. It is a bill that is going to come sooner or later. I don't think a normal buyer is going to pay a big premium for newer brakes.

I also think some buyers buy an R without knowing the cost and issues with the brakes.

Not a lot of interest, fact is we have a very very good car, we know it’s a buyers market and prices are on the slump, we knew that before putting it up, worse case scenario we will lock up for another year and see what happens next year, the R like any other car will reach a base line and fall no more, then begin to rise again for a good car.

Yes and that gap is based on condition, there are many shitters out there at the moment, I don’t see any reason to sell a good one for 10k.

The white one is back up again. That's now a total of 5.5 months it has been up for sale. It has been for under £10,000 for most of that time.

Looking back at this thread the buyer on here didn't get the car and there was no heating. The water pump and thermostat needed replaced.

It looked in really good condition in the Cazoo photos. They only highlighted a couple of minor chips. The interior looked really good. Front discs measured at 31.2mm thickness.

However, it looks like it has been reserved numerous times only for the sale to fall through.

Maybe the price is to high for the miles, or could it just be a bad car and people are backing out because of that, or maybe people just think an R is not worth anywhere near 10k anymore.
I am not one of those people.

It has been reserved a number of times, so it's something in person putting them off. The price and mileage are known.

It was £9895 until last week. Odd to put the price up when it hadn't sold for ages.

It looked really clean on the Cazoo photos. Full service history, in very good condition and very clean interior. Good brakes. The wheels newly refurbished, but budget tyres.

Just noticed they've reduced the car to £9700.

The white private sale car from a few weeks back, with the wheels that looked like they had been refurbished at home, is back up for sale at a dealer.

Not surprised these cars find their way to a dealer, my opinion this, there are many bad one’s at dealers, very common now.

The orange car has gone. The white car with the poor wheels has gone.

@Claret63 I see you've taken a deposit. I hope the sale goes well.

Yeah surprised with the orange one, probably a trade in against it to move it on, the white one with the poor wheels just awful.

Yes it will be a couple of weeks with mine yet, just waiting for the MOT and service to be done, then onto the next stage.
