newbie intro

Hi guys n gals,
just a quick intro to myself - Nige from north Lincs,
as of yet i do not have a RCZ but am currently actively shopping for one

I am currently looking at the RCZ-R model - are these worth nearly double the money!!!!

in my opinion i believe they will become like the classic 205gti and be worth every penny - but what are your thoughts out there, as you will have much more insight than me.

anything to look out for and/or avoid

I paid a hefty premium for mine but I reckon it's worth it. I think re-sale will be excellent if it's looked after. Just make sure you get a good one. They are great cars with a brilliant chassis.

but i know what you mean by a hefty premium - it cant have been much cheaper brand new ...

Hi and welcome and your right no doubt the R will command the best money in the future but remember they were over 30K new so a good low mileage car is still worth the money at 15K-18K

ive seen one with a carbon roof - did this come as an option? as surely the roof would not be a replaceable panel?

The real carbon roof skin was indeed an option and attached on top of the regular metal roof. About £3K if you want to buy one from the main dealers now apparently...

Carbon wrap is good now and realistic and looks well very cheap to do rather than paying 3 grand for original roof

Yes as 2retro said it were an option for all the RCZ’s other than the Launch edition which came with it as standard. The option in the accessories brochure cost £1400 at the time.

i could've understood paying the option for a genuine carbon roof, as that would lower the centre of gravity and reduce a bit of weight, making the car even more fun on a corner and windy roads. But applying it as a skin it is just going to increase centre of gravity and weight (albeit slight) - purely for asthetics.
wrap maybe the way forward if i go thta route - doubt it now though

Is there anywhere to get the new bonnet badge (in black) in Verminators profile pic at all to fit the car
had a quick look around Fleabay and all i could see are Black Wolf ones!?

additionally - if i found a carbon roof in a scrappers - would this just need a heat gun to soften the glue - so as to remove and refit - or is this not advised?

I was offered first refusal on that roof a few weeks back by the seller by the way. Nice guy, great carbon roof but ultimately I wouldn't be able to fit it inside the car while still attached to the actual metal roof and I wasn't at all sure I would be able to separate the 2 without it splintering into a thousand pieces either so had to leave it.

that is my concern, as if i use a heat gun to soften the adhesive - surely this will also affect the Carbon Fibre bonding too. witghout heat it can become brittle
