that is my concern, as if i use a heat gun to soften the adhesive - surely this will also affect the Carbon Fibre bonding too. witghout heat it can become brittle
Also, it's been on the original car for something like 9 years so it's probably stuck extremely well!

Thinking logically, a wrap may be the way forward and easy to remove if (or when) I change my mind.

now whilst I have you here. Would swapping out the stereo for a double din carplwy unit cause any problems or lose any functions - as obviously I haven't got the car yet so can't see what if any thing runs through it

It's fine but you need a special wiring loom to add from the back of the new stereo to the car because a lot of the cars functions like setting the clock, etc. are done through the factory stereo. The new cables allows those functions to be accessed via the steering wheel stalks instead. Do a search on here and you will find lots of people who have done it, myself included. 👍

Hmm a bit of digging around and it looks like its best not to modify the "R"headunit as too many other modules and ecu's run through it.

ah well looks like i will just have to take it on the chin and not have "Android carplay" availiable.

I was offered first refusal on that roof a few weeks back by the seller by the way. Nice guy, great carbon roof but ultimately I wouldn't be able to fit it inside the car while still attached to the actual metal roof and I wasn't at all sure I would be able to separate the 2 without it splintering into a thousand pieces either so had to leave it.
I were in contact with the seller very early on as he beat me to the salvage car which were advertised on Facebook he told me he wouldn’t sell the roof until the interior sold thinking it were the full roof I told him it were just a carbon skin and that getting it off the roof would be very tricky that’s why he’s just cut the steel roof off with it still attached, but upon closer inspection the carbon roof is damaged anyway so it’s virtually worthless.
