I realise there are those on this forum that can possibly afford an Audi R8. Sadly I am not one of them, otherwise I would have one parked on my drive right now.

My Z is the most expensive, fastest, best looking, and generally nicest car to drive, that I have ever had.

I am fully aware that there are many faster cars out there, some of them possibly even cheaper than the Z. But as almost all the owners on here, I fell in love with the Z on a love at first sight basis, not a lets find out if it's as fast as it looks basis. I would have had a 156 if I couldn't have afforded my GT200, and as I have stated on here before, I would have had a Mk1 even though I prefer the Mk2.

I will be keeping the Z for the next 4 years primarily because of a finance deal, but to be honest, that's just an excuse I use for the wife, cos I would be happy to keep it longer than that.

I have no thoughts about needing to get rid just because they are stopping production of the model. In fact, as has been said, residuals could actually go either way because of that.

I wish I was in a position to order a brand new R. If I was, I would do it without hesitation, although the OH might have something to say there.
Enjoy you Z's while you can, I hope anyone that swaps them does it for the right reasons, doesn't regret doing it, and gets the car they want next time round.

I have no idea how I am going to replace the Z when it eventually comes to that. Possibly something like an A5 as the OH wants comfort, and I don't dislike the look of them.

Until then, I still can't wait to go out in the Z every single time. And I still keep looking out of the window, just to see it sitting there on the drive.

From here on in, thou shall be referred to as Sir DKZ5745

I hate audis and other than m range bmw i cant stand them, why because they are built great but after all the quality the drive has no character at all, ford, alfa, renault, Peugeot and fiat all have this character in bucket loads.

Hmmm......not always.
Try visiting the Audi Site now and then - they have their problems.

4 Years of RCZ no warranty / repair work required.
8 months of Audi and I've been waiting a month for a minor bit of warranty work.

Would I recommend Audi / Audi Quality - NO WAY
And their "reputation" for quality is why I went there in the first place.

My next car will not be an Audi, that's for sure.

Not even going to touch the suggestion that any equivalent is "out of the question affordability wise to most on this forum" but will instead take issue with the suggestion that an equivalent model by other marques is indeed unaffordable/markedly more expensive.

Can only speak for the Audi element, although the price for the car is for the "basic" elements.

By the time you then add on the "goodies", the final price can be a good £5 - 10k on top.

By "goodies", this includes basic things like a light in the sun visor(s), cruise control, rain sensor, folding mirrors, before you start getting to the good things like Sat Nav, Lane Assist, Park Assist, etc - you get the idea.

PS This post isn't supposed to be highlighting that other Brands are more expensive, it's trying to show the value that other Brands e.g. RCZ offer by including a number of things in the standard price.

Torallt agree engines and sensor issues constantly plagued all VAG cars, i was refering to inside build quality. Definitely would never recommend any audi,

If any german marque bought out the rcz like it is, i would guarantee every motoring press, customer would be raving on how great it is, ok press has recieved it glowimg reviews, but public see oh its another Peugeot,

I agree wrapper!!

However, let's continue the theme of honesty, an R8 is not comparable with an RCZ.
I never suggested that though.Only my purchase thoughts for next car.

If it was true, every year when BMW and Mercedes throw their "new models", usually small tweaks, them the older models suffer fast depreciation? Many parts from the RCZ are shared with the 308 and Citroen. The only reason I can think about to justify selling my RCZ next year is when the warranty expires and, as far as I'm not having any problems with the car, 3 years with the same car is long enough for me. That's all.
I may try something really different by then, between a Jaguar XF 3.0 S (prefer the actual model, not the first Mondeo-like or the newly announced) or a Mercedes A-45.
Anyway, buying a new car isn't a clever investment. Simply check how much the car will depreciate, plus fuel and services cost, is what you'll pay to drive the car. An R8 will suffer depreciation too. 50% from a 27k car isn't as bad as 50% from a 80k car.

Only had my RCZ a few weeks before I sold it , just didn't get on really. Recently test-drove a few hot hatches and bought a new French weapon, a white 10,000 mile Renault RS265 cup. Oh my god what a dream of a car, not much to live with it road or track. Very highly recommended, best car I've driven and jees I've driven a lot.

Very nice car.
I believe that the main reason most people get disappointed with the RCZ is because they expect something fast, maybe because of the design. It's a coupé, not something to race top spec hot hatch. I own a 156. For my needs, it's fast enough, a fun car to drive and in my case is very well equipped. I'm sure the 200 or the R can be much faster, but Peugeot never had the intention to offer bigger and more powerful engines.

A fine replacement d_taylor. These are still cracking cars. The cup edition is the one to go for. Tell me, does yours also make that slightly irritating beep when it wants you to change up a gear? Is your interior the yellow one? I really enjoyed my test drive in one and, as you say, it's a real driver's car. It really likes to be pushed and it rewards you for doing so.

I know that speed is a big thing to many people, but my 200 is pretty damn quick, even compared to most things I have encountered on the roads.

Most of the time, you can only go as fast as whatever your following anyway, and the acceleration of my 200 is easily quick enough to go round almost anything if the opportunity arises.

For me, it's looks that are the most important with any car I have had. I have discovered in the past that a great looking slow car can eventually become tiresome, but how anyone can consider the Z as a slow car is beyond me.

I have driven a 156 and at the time, I thought it was extremely quick. I then bought a 200 and I was pretty gobsmacked!

I have never been in an R, and I know if I did, I would probably need spare pants, and yes, I would be amazed and might even want one, but to be honest, the 200 is more than quick enough for the roads I use regularly.

I am not interested in racing anyone in a hot hatch. I know that a skyline would leave me for dead or a Golf R would dissapear into the distance, but to me, they just don't have the appeal/looks/charisma of the Z.

But to say the reason people are disappointed in the Z is because they thought it was going to be fast

I thought it was going to be fast, and guess what, it is :D

I just can't believe this is still going on. I looked at the first post a while ago and decided not to get involved in the discussion.
As far as I'm concerned, this is a rcz forum. People may wish to tell us owners that we have a (well, crap car, or we don't know anything) however I enjoy my car, am not absolutely loaded being a teacher but enjoy life.
If you wish to show off your apparent wealth then feel free. I'm sure the people in the food banks would love to listen.
Life is not about money or showing off. However, enjoying what we are fortunate for and in my case helping others and not bragging.

You're kinda on to something in my opinion DKZ. 0-62 times are really just little more than a peeing contest. The real measure is torque and driver ability. The 156, 200 and the oil burner will all trouble a lot of cars with much higher price tags. Seriously, look at the performance figures of most of the Audi A4 range etc and you'll be pleasantly impressed. The RCZ range is no slouch. Also, it's really down to torque, gearing and driver ability. Ultimately, it's down to what makes you happy as a driver.

A voice of reason!! Well said Andy! Particularly appreciated the food banks remark.

Oh and from a fellow teacher to another, I'll bet your pupils love your car. I think my street cred increased exponentially when I started pulling up in mine.
