Looks like a big exodus beginning..

From what i am seeing here on forum(apart from new members especiaaly those that have had to finance cars). There is a general exodus of owners beginning since the announcement of the end of production. Those that have enjoyed their cars over the last few years are perharps the lucky ones i suspect,in particular the mk2 when it comes to second hand values as the mk 1 will have seriously have lost value now.The problem now is those folk cant afford to replace the car with anything like what they had now. Its a predicament that was going to happen one day,and that day has now come im afraid.I am just glad that Puegeot brought this car to market, and at such a reasonable price too.A chance for some to buy a car in my case 28.000.A snip for this design.I will probably keep it till its 3 (next year).By then i hope that something is available to suit my taste or its an r8 at moment.Meanwhile, engoy your cars folks. :eusa-think:

I disagree wrapper. This announcement will not really have any immediate impact on the car's values and there is no word on how soon they will be dropped. For now, this will have negligible impact on the market although I suspect that some people will buy new models for a bargain in time once they finalise when they're being dropped from. Depreciation will, for now, continue on its current trend. Just because it is discontinued doesn't make it undesirable, sometimes quite the reverse is true.

Honestly, I think that there is no real need to panic. You have been reading too much Daily Express?

I do agree with your last sentence though, just enjoy the car.

I do not read the Daily Express. Has there been any comment on there re the RCZ drop? hope not as these can certainly increase the pressure on the value of remaining models.A great iconic design, now left to flounder by its manufacturer and deserves better in my opinion. The king is dead.long live the king.

I think the subject of this thread reads like a headline from a tabloid newspaper written by a journalist desperate to sell papers/look for attention by using exaggeratory headlines. Honestly the word exodus has no part to play in buying a car or not. Buy whatever you want then Just drive it, and enjoy it and if not then buy an R8.

On the other side of the coin ..... current (and potential) owners might be sticking their order in now whilst they still can ... upping the order numbers might encourage Pug to keep the Z after all.......

Ah more shizzle-stirring from our resident forum troll!

Peugeot have not gone bust and the RCZ was never made in large numbers anyway so there is unlikely to be some great fire-sale of half price RCZ bargains coming to a showroom near you anytime soon or owners selling their cars in droves just because they are stopping making them in the future.

Not everything is about money. My family unit has increased and so the RCZ is unfit for purpose. I dont see buying a car 4-5 times the price of an RCZ as selling up because I cant afford the hit.
At least the money from the RCZ sale will pay for a new quad system on the new car ;)

Please dont talk down the brands,i think the probs here is that some can afford the rcz..and put themselves out on a limb to do so,however an eqivalent Audi.. or a BMW if you can find one worthwhile..is out of the question affordability wise to most on this forum.Just as i have always said..enjoy your car.. but what next????

I have nothing at all against Audi or BMW brands at all - fantastic cars. It's just the absolute tools that drive them that annoy me...

Not even going to touch the suggestion that any equivalent is "out of the question affordability wise to most on this forum" but will instead take issue with the suggestion that an equivalent model by other marques is indeed unaffordable/markedly more expensive.

Peugeot RCZ prices:

Audi TT prices:

Nope...not seeing it. Let's try BMW...

Ok Mercedes Benz or bust. Actually...just read the "Against" section and no longer care. Sounds rubbish..

I realise there are those on this forum that can possibly afford an Audi R8. Sadly I am not one of them, otherwise I would have one parked on my drive right now.

My Z is the most expensive, fastest, best looking, and generally nicest car to drive, that I have ever had.

I am fully aware that there are many faster cars out there, some of them possibly even cheaper than the Z. But as almost all the owners on here, I fell in love with the Z on a love at first sight basis, not a lets find out if it's as fast as it looks basis. I would have had a 156 if I couldn't have afforded my GT200, and as I have stated on here before, I would have had a Mk1 even though I prefer the Mk2.

I will be keeping the Z for the next 4 years primarily because of a finance deal, but to be honest, that's just an excuse I use for the wife, cos I would be happy to keep it longer than that.

I have no thoughts about needing to get rid just because they are stopping production of the model. In fact, as has been said, residuals could actually go either way because of that.

I wish I was in a position to order a brand new R. If I was, I would do it without hesitation, although the OH might have something to say there.
Enjoy you Z's while you can, I hope anyone that swaps them does it for the right reasons, doesn't regret doing it, and gets the car they want next time round.

I have no idea how I am going to replace the Z when it eventually comes to that. Possibly something like an A5 as the OH wants comfort, and I don't dislike the look of them.

Until then, I still can't wait to go out in the Z every single time. And I still keep looking out of the window, just to see it sitting there on the drive.

I agree wrapper!!

However, let's continue the theme of honesty, an R8 is not comparable with an RCZ.

Think the RCZR with the extra oomph and limited will end up going up in value. But probably not for a few years after production has stopped even thou the residuals for it at the minute or crap.
