Recently bought at 156 and I've bought a K&N panel filter for it thinking that as well as boosting performance it will also raise make the engine note louder and turbo noises louder too (whistle a chatter from back pressure). That's what happens with most of the other cars I've fitted these to (older cars that is).
However, I've seen talk on the forum of sound insulating induction pipes and a specially created cabin pipe from the 200bhp model that routes induction noise into the cabin.
So - am I barking up the wrong tree with a panel filter? If I want to hear induction noise, turbo chatters etc, should i be going for a cone filter/induction kit like this one: http://www.forgemotorsport.com/content.asp?inc=product&cat=030201&product=FMINDDS3 and abandon the standard pipework and air box all together?
Anyone fitted a panel filter? Did you notice any difference in the engine sound? To you get any more noise from the turbo?
Before any suggests it, yes I do plan on replacing the exhaust system at some point (I'm after a bit of turbo noise in the mean time).
