Quick thoughts appreciated

Is £6800 for a full history, 47k mile Magnetic petrol (200bhp) with chain just done a decent deal - getting bogged down with prices seemingly all over the place

I don't think you'll be happy with a 200 Andy.

The red one mentioned on eBay looks promising. A few easily reversible tacky modifications, the badges(especially the side ones), the French flags on the sill protectors and the seatbelt pads.

I've never understood budget tyres on a performance car, but they can be changed.

A bit of haggling and it could be worth it.

….just my thoughts, if the PO skimped on tyres, what else?

but I like it, forgot how nice the seats were in the R, and just showed the wife and she liked it…..hmm.

That looks a very very good car, slightly under priced in my opinion, given current and passed offerings on AT.

Many of the cars on AT keep getting reduced in price or removed without selling.

AT's valuation is £10,050.

Alarmingly the CAP valuation for the R continues to slump. I don't know what is going on. They only value that car at £5800 for a private sale and £4500 for a trade in. WBAC offer £4100.

I did expect valuations and prices to firm up after the prices came down quickly after the covid hike. Now the values are going south faster than ever.

So based on the above, you really think you can buy that car for the above valuation?

I think not, it is simply about finding the right buyer as I did, who appreciates a honest and future classic.

We've all been hoping the future classic status would kick in for years. For some reason that doesn't seem to be happening. Values are slumping rather than appreciating. Values are much lower than they have ever been.

There has been some nice cars going sub £10k recently and not selling. Cars are going to BCA auctions which shows owners are taking trade prices.

I've no idea what the seller is willing to accept. The eBay sale is a price or best offer so they obvious are willing to accept less.

Personally I wouldn't buy any car that the trade value at 1/3 of the asking price. If I needed to change, or trade in the car quickly, there is no way out unless you're willing to wait a long time to find the person willing to pay well over valuation guides.

The 200 has plenty of power & it was the flagship before the R mine goes like a rabid dog when let off the leash & since its top end was fully refurbed its acceleration is almost as was when it left the factory so don't think it s not powerful enough just because it hasn't got any red badges anywhere they will fly if serviced properly

Sold mine at the price asked, buyer did not haggle, buyers/collectors are willing to travel and pay for a decent example, I was not going to go lower it would of stayed in my possession.

I got back exactly what I paid in 2019.(shame I didn't sell when they were circa £19K in 2021 etc!) Obviously there are the twats/vultures that offered £9-11K thinking I needed to sell or have a crack habit to feed, a lot of the low ballers came as the classified advert was ending from the Trade; obviously I just ignored them,

As stated before WBAC and such like and their prices are meaningless in the emerging/classic car market I would go as far to say their prices are actually just meaningless for a decent example of the R. I personally would not go near the Trade to buy or sell a car just isn't worth it. Ebay was a good platform to use as it cut down the idiots, criminals/scammers etc wasting my time. A high mileage daily used R is a different purchase/sale proposition to a low mileage Garage Queen. We've had a string of numpties on here over the year's saying the R is not worth the money asked, that mileage is not an important issue in pricing etc......all cobblers.

Sold my GSXR1000 K5 too, being picked up tomorrow, sold it for double the price We Buy Any Bike were quoting me....again meaningless prices in an attempt to destroy/disrupt the private used car/bike market and capitalise on their profits at auction or selling on to the Trade....or push people to borrowing their car on PCP.

That said the private used market is slow; words of encouragement from Claret63 kept me positive of a decent sale. Cheers mate.

I liked the R and mine was nigh on mint, bit heavy hearted as I heard it drive off but also looking for something to replace it with (which I said I would not do!)

Anyone want a brand new set of discs:p

Cars are only worth what you are willing to pay & what others are willing to sell for.
I have a RCZ 2.0 D. Always wanted an RCZ & stumbled across the D. Brings a smile to my face every time I drive it.

If it's what you want & can afford & your happy to buy then ignore all the go up or go down in value comments.

Never buy a car as an investment just buy to enjoy & just remember we are living in an ever more vehicle regulated camera observed society.
So even the slowest RCZ can be a licence loser.

Buy to enjoy.

That said the private used market is slow;

WBAC valuation is pretty much spot on what a dealer would offer as a trade in on the R. It's pretty much spot on what the valuation guides say for a trade in valuation which is exactly what WBAC are.

Too many people expect car buying, and bike buying services, to offer showroom prices. It's a lack of understanding what their service actually is.

When you see the prices dealers are willing to pay at auction you'll find that the valuations are not unreasonable.

Over the 6 years of watching the R market the lower priced higher mileage Rs pretty much always sell first. The lower mileage higher priced cars sit on the market for ages and often don't sell.

Any car I've watched or shortlisted that is realistically priced sells fast. There is always a buyer for a car.

Not sure what your point is, most modern cars are fast enough to get banned, I assume you mean UK motorway, anyway glad your happy with yours.
