Hello everyone. Just thought I'd introduce myself. I own a Black RCZ R which I purchased last year from a dealership in Wales ( we live in Brighton). It's been an eventful 12 months owning the car. Despite having some great driving experiences, last year whilst we returning from a holiday in France our car broke down on the motorway. If you have driven in France and broken down I'm sure you'll know that it can be a hair raising experience. When the motorway assistance guy turned up to tow us away to safety we discovered a massive oil slick underneath the car. Long story short - the drive train had broken and the engine was toast. Given that there was only 20,000 miles on the clock we were pretty shocked that this had happened. Fortunately we had the foresight to take out break down recovery insurance and extended warranty cover - so after 3 weeks the car was shipped back to the dealership. When they inspected the car they said that it would need a brand new engine because the engine casing was trashed. They also said that it was unlikely that the extended warranty would cover the repair costs - but after a lot of negotiating they eventually agreed to cover the work. The final bill for all the repairs was £14,000 so we were very fortunate that the repair work was covered. So now the car has a brand new engine. But that's not the end of the story. Last weekend we were driving down to Dorset when we lost 2nd, 4th and 6th gear!. We were able to get the car to where we were staying and a local mechanic sorted the problem for £30. Apparently the dealership that had undertaken the replacement of the engine had failed to tighten one of the clutch cables!! Despite all of these issues we love our RCZ R and hopefully now it will behave itself. We wanted to join the forum as there is a lot of great advice on here. If any of you can point me in direction of the following. We are looking for some ideas for an after market in car entertainment system that would fit an RCZ. Also, if anyone has any advise about the best way to refurb the roof pillars (ours are looking a bit tired - a common problem I know) that would be great.
