I'm really sorry it's worked out this way for you. I can understand your frustrations totally. I hope whatever car you do get, turns out to be everything you wanted.

Having said that I believe buying the car or any car from a car supermarket really is not the best place. Usually the cars that they are selling are ex hire cars. I'm not making this up, I know it to be the truth. They usually work closely with Enterprise or similar and when a hire car is getting a few miles on it or coming to a certain age, they are passed to car supermarkets for a very reduced price. Been driven very hard, neglected and not maintained all that well.

Sorry to read you message Hux. I believe that you are being far too hasty, but it's your call. Peugeot would have assisted you and you didn't even buy it from one of their dealerships. Try and find service like that elsewhere if you can and if you do please report back where it was.

I'm sorry but when I spoke to the Peugeot Dealer in Crewe this morning they made it abundantly clear that they weren't interested in the slightest in helping me, that their priority was to their own customers and that they wouldn't do anything else with the vehicle without assurances that they were going to get paid. If they had been interested in helping me they might, for example, have rung around other Peugeot Dealers in the North West who might have been able to take a look a bit quicker which I thought would have been a perfectly reasonable option considering FoW were prepared to transport the car. This was the final straw for me.

It's probably difficult for you to see it from their side but they do have a point. You bought the car from a non Peugeot garage and instantly developed faults. The garage you bought from obviously didn't want or know how to rectify the problem so they try off loading it on another garage, who are probably very busy themselves at the moment and I think rightly so, should be receiving some kind of payment from the other garage for trying to sort it out. The original garage you bought it from have some obligation to resolve the problem. After all they are the ones who sold you the car probably knowing how it was.

I'm in agreement with RCZ1 I'm afraid. I don't think it would be reasonable to expect that this work should be carried out for free. If I was to try and book my car in from the dealership, from which I bought it, then I too would have to wait for a time/day that was mutually acceptable.

However, the fact remains that you have been left thoroughly unsatisfied with your experience and largely because of a chain stealership and this is simply unacceptable. So, what happens next for you? Obviously you're going to be without a car while you wait for this to be resolved.

hang on, one one hand I'm being told on here that the car comes with a 3 year warranty, then I'm told that I / someone should be paying for the cost of repairs? i don't get it ... either the battery and oil pump and whatever else is wrong with it is covered by the warranty or it isn't ...?

What's next for me ..? I dunno, a Porcshe Cayman or an Audi TT probably ...

Yours are exceptional circumstances however and as such would normally be the garage you bought it from sorting it out so soon after collecting it.

It's like taking your car for a service to find there's something wrong with it but the garage won't repair it so ask a Peugeot dealership to sort it out at cost to Peugeot, which will cost them in labour time and parts. The original garage however are sat with their feet up, laughing because it's cost them nothing.

No no no...I think you have misinterpreted my point. Under warranty the parts will be replaced and faults fixed at no cost to you but a dealership has to receive approval from Peugeot centrally for work to be carried out. This does not cover regular wear and tear etc. Therefore, the dealership will, I imagine, be seeking assurances that, should work be required and carried out outside of warranty that, they will not be left out of pocket. Obviously you shouldn't be paying for the repair work so it leaves them wary of carrying out repairs without a guarantee that such work will be paid. Does that make sense now?

I have to agree with Hux here and I'd be doing exactly the same. Blatantly going to be a warranty issue with the problems you've had, not wear and tear. I would expect Peugeot to be sorting this out, although I do appreciate it was bought elsewhere.

With regards to car supermarkets - have to disagree. These places sell millions of cars a year and not everyone can afford main dealer prices. I bought our 2010 Fiesta at 16 months old, nearly 3 yrs old now and not had one single issue - I bought it knowing it had a warranty so if anything major happened (like in this instance) it should/would be covered.

P.s Porsche Cayman - I'd have gone straight for that :eusa-think: !

You must be a rare creature dand, as everyone I know that has bought a car from one of these places has had nothing but trouble. Their customer service is appalling and don't want to know when something goes wrong with the car, which invariably, it does.
As I said before, a lot of the cars they sell are ex hire cars which have normally be thrashed.

I appreciate that not everyone can afford dealer prices but there are other places available to buy cars.

I'm so pleased that you decided to go for another, from a main dealer.

I'm sure you will love the diesel and I hope that you will have trouble free motoring.

Enjoy

The other one is back in the hands of FoW (I hope) ... they said they'd sort me out a full refund including tax, fuel and insurance cover cancellation - as soon as the money is back in my bank account they can have the spare key, locking wheel nut, service history, V5 and manuals etc. back.
This one drove so much better, the other was nice but it did have a bit of a wheel wobble at 69 MPH ;) on the motorway whereas this one was as smooth as anything on the test drive.
Lookers of Stockport have thrown in tax, 12 months additional warranty on top of the manufacturer's balance, the magic stuff that protects the leather & paintwork, a deal for the maintenance of the alloys and tyres and GAP insurance, all in all I'm spending about £500 more on this one than the other ...

Can't tell you all how happy I am (again), I looked at other cars this morning but nothing took my fancy and it was love at first sight (again) when I saw this one.

All being well I pick it up next Friday or Saturday ... still well before I would have got the old one back !

Take that back...right now!!!:evil::evil: Blue is beautiful!!! The colour changes in different lights and is always stunning.

(Touch of the Barton's coming on...they're not at all arty as I took them on the sprint with my phone just after giving it a quick maintenance detail this week)
