Okay thanks ... I've decided to give up on it, I'm sending it back and getting a refund. Having read all the problems on here I've lost all faith in the vehicle. I wish I'd read this a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for your help & all the best.

Please don't be hasty. Give your dealer chance to remedy the problem first. The problem with forums is that you tend to only get the bad points. Believe me there are loads of great points. I'm on my second RCZ. Do you think I would have bought a second if I had had big big problems? I'm not the only one either. I had a problem but the dealer sorted it swiftly. I had no complaints.

You say you had a Freelander. So did my OH a few years ago. They were beset with problems, if you read the forums. Never any trouble with ours.

Give them a chance and take time the time to get o know your car and hopefully enjoy it.

Unfortunately, you'll find that it won't be as easy / straightforward as that :eusa-think:

Hopefully, you're getting all your car problems in one go - and while you're still in warranty.
Suggest let the Dealer have a go at fixing and see how you go from there.
Who / where is your local Dealer - you may find that others are able to provide some guidance on how good / bad they are.

If you're still up for changing it, suggest the Audi TT

Good Luck.

Ok Hux I've taken some time reading through the posts in this thread and there's no shying away from the fact that you have had a desperately unfortunate and displeasing start to your ownership experience and I hope that you have not already resolved to give up on the RCZ experience which, for the vast majority of us has been (and continues to be) a wonderful experience.

Of course some owners have experienced faults and issues and these are widely detailed within these pages. However, I'd plead that you don't disregard the vast number of positive tales that are also recorded! It is quite normal within any car forum to see both and it's important to realise that it isn't simply reserved to the RCZ.

However, I think that your dealership has a LOT to answer for on this occasion and I would firstly be confronting them about why you have inherited a car that clearly has not been fully serviced and checked before selling. The RCZ does have 3 years warranty so any issues will be repaired under warranty. If they are not aware of this then this is quite clearly due to their ignorance regarding the car. Further to this, I would imagine that you agreed/were offered at least 12 months dealer warranty. I would certainly be demanding this in light of your experience to date. If I could suggest anything then it would be to politely but firmly confront your dealer and demand that the car is fully serviced and any necessary repairs carried out under warranty. Furthermore, I would be insisting that you are provided with a courtesy vehicle at no cost while all repairs are carried out. After all you should not be without a car due to their negligence. I would also write to the dealer principal recording in detail the experience that you have received and asking directly what they will do to make amends. Can I ask, are they a Peugeot dealership? If so then I would also suggest that you contact Peugeot centrally in Coventry and enclose a copy of the letter that you have sent to the dealership. I am sure that they would be VERY interested to hear of your experiences.

Please keep us posted and don't give up on the RCZ too easily.

He said that it was bought from Fords of Winsford and they are a car supermarket, with not the best customer satisfaction record.

Well guys, I went to bed last night fuming ... then I opened the curtains this morning and fell in love all over again. I rang somebody who works at Peugeot and talked it through with them and they said it should be fine to drive as long as the red lights don't come on and it's running well so I took it for a spin up the motorway to my boat and I don't ever want to be parted from it ..! It's going into the dealer tomorrow courtesy of FOW for a full check over and I can't wait to get it back ...!

I hear the sounds of a fellow sufferer of The RCZ Syndrome in the making

Good decision - although I haven't had any issues yet, from what I've seen on this forum Peugeot normally come up trumps and rectify any problems.

Hope all goes well.

Update ... FOW came and collected my car yesterday and took it back to their workshop. They couldn't identify the problem so they booked it into Peugeot in Crewe. They tested the car for 9 hours today and identified the problem as a dry cell in the battery so they have replaced it under warranty. Apparently all is now good (though I've no idea how a duff battery can affect the temperature gauge) but FOW's transporter drivers were out of tacho hours so I'll get my car back tomorrow all being well. I'll keep you updated, fingers crossed it's all sorted.

UPDATE: Well I expected the car back bright and early this morning but alas, after 3 phone calls I was told that it didn't even get on the low loader as I was informed yesterday, they found yet another fault and it's going to be at the Dealers for the foreseeable future.
This has got beyond a joke now, they have had the car longer than I have.

Legal action now seems my only course of resolve. :(

If they really have said they'll need to keep it for an indefinite period I think you'd be able to reject the car as unfit for purpose and request a full refund. Then buy another one from a Peugeot dealer which should have been checked more thoroughly and will be covered by a proper warranty. That doesn't mean you will not have any problems but it would perhaps reduce the risk.

Please remember that most RCZ owners are happy with their cars so don't let this experience put you off owning one!

Ouch - gutted for you.

If I was rejecting a vehicle, I would not be touching another make of the same type, let along the same model I'm afraid :( Hopefully it doesn't come to that though.

Sorry to read this update. However I would say from a personal point of view, I would be pleased that they found the fault and that the car was not returned to me, only for me to find another fault. Please take into account where you bought this car. Had you got a problem with a car then I'm thinking a car warehouse would be the sort of place to offload it. Meaning they are unlikely to notice the problems with it. A Peugeot dealership would on the other hand have carried out many checks to ensure the car was not faulty prior to re selling it. Buying any used products carries an inherent risk a risk the purchaser takes in order to benefit from the cost saving of buying the item new. I'd be tempted to allow them to sort the car out under warranty and give it a chance, as the RCZ is a fantastic motor car. Maybe don't buy cars from this type of outlet may also be advisable. That said they do sound like they are doing the right thing by you

Well it's the end of another day without my new car. I was promised a call from both the After Sales Manager and the Operations Director of FoW to update me on what was happening but neither of them called. I have no idea what is happening, all I can suspect is that it's something seriously wrong, hence the delay and the silence.

Final Update - Dealer who has had the car since Monday will not look at it for another week as they are busy, I didn't buy it from them and it hasn't even been booked in with them. For info they suspect that there is no oil pressure in the car.
I've given up with it now, there is no way that a 2 year old car should break down like that, and even more so that it should never have been sold to me in that condition in the first place so I have requested that the deal be cancelled and my costs refunded to me. I will have no hesitation instigating legal action to recover my monies should they fail to pay and I am withholding the spare key, service history, V5 and associated paperwork until a satisfactory resolution is achieved. I cannot tell you how much I wished for a different ending to this saga but as someone commented above, I will never touch another Peugeot, never mind another RCZ.
Thanks to those of you who have commented on this thread with support, advice & encouragement - it was really appreciated. Thanks also to the very important person from Peugeot who was reading this thread and sent me a PM and offered the support of the Customer Service Team, unfortunately they didn't contact me until about an hour ago by which time my decision had already been made.

I wish you all good luck in the future,

All the best.

Hux.
