I didn't bother with this expensive product.... Otherwise the phrase "all the gear....but no idea" would quickly spring to mind. Long live my wipers!
Requote: after seeing all the pics and reading all the car detailing topics posted by everyone else, I've taken the plunge and ordered the Gtechniq Crystal Lacquer - C1+ Kit. Also restocking my Iron X with the 1 Litre ECO refill pack.
I've never clayed before, but think I will need to give it ago before applying the C1, so have ordered the Autoglym - Surface Detailing Clay Kit. I've already got loads of detailing lube, so should be fine for that product. Also, bought some Valet Pro - PH Neutral Snow Foam. I will be following RCZ1's full detail wash guide to make sure it's all done in the correct order.
Just hope the car will be gleaming after I find the time to apply it all!
It depends wot ur paint is like i washed then used ironx (the new cherry 1 still stinks to high heaven) then used tarx but ive vowed to never clay a car again that's just me thou. Carpro have a new mix which does both tarx and ironx's job in the 1 bottle can't remember the name of it but i ain't used it yet  if u use C1 on ur black car u won't be disappointed the focus i did has a mirror finish and that's without even using the C1.5 silo on it yet  the new stuff is called trix

I probably only need to clay the bonnet, wings and front panels. The front panel near the fog lights feels very rough to touch. Iron-x and tar remover made only slight difference, but this is main problem area. There are a few stone chips too and can't do much about those :(

I was planning to do the following:
1. Power rinse
1.1 clean wheels
2. Snow foam + iron x
3. Power rinse
4. Two bucket wash (+ 2 cap fills of Mer polish)
5. Rinse with open ended hose
6. Dry off
7. Clay
8. Mer polish or Autoglym super resin polish.
9. Apply C1+
10. Apply C1.5 Silo Seal

If ur polish has fillers u'll need a ipa wipe down before applying C1 carpro erasure or like or the fillers will fade under the C1 and u'll be left with a mess. U'd think i was a sales rep for carpro

I know everybody loves their power washers but i was told many moons ago to never use a powerhose on ur car. So i only use ordinary hose maybe I'm just odd :eusa-think:

What reason was you given for this advice? I use one and wouldn't be without it and cannot see a problem.

If you keep the power washer moving not aimed at one spot and not too close, you will be fine. Common sense prevails :)

Why don't you try Gtechniq P1 polish? It will help to remove swirls amd scratchesvrather than filling them like the Autoglym polish.

The other thing is leave C1 to cure for 24 hours before applying C1.5 and don't let it get wet in that time - garage it if you can. Apply 2 coats of C1.5, 10 minutes apart.

@RCZ1... Once I get through all my polishes, I will give it ago. I normally spend much less on products, and have too many to mention now. Maybe a clear out on eBay, or my bin is required! I don't have a garage, so will have to do it very early one morning and pray it doesn't rain all day and night. I don't have a car cover either, but I think it will be ok on a dry day (fingers crossed).

Just keep an eye on the weather forecast and try to coordinate doing the car when no rain is forecast - Good luck with that one :)

Good news then. I applied P1 by hand (not for the first time either) took about 2 hrs then added a layer of wax on after. Despite my ignorance I may have done the right thing. Thumbs up for the G Technique.

The guy from GTECHNIQ on the YouTube video says although they recommend not getting it wet for 12 hours if it's warm full curing should be inside 3 hours.

Something to do with forcing grit over the paint and power washers not being good for wax. Maybe just an old wives tale but hey everybody has there own likes and dislikes i just don't use 1 :D

Yes, there is a certain logic to that. I'm guessing that others with more knowledge on the subject could provide a counter argument. We do go through life doing certain things based upon what we have been told. My problem now is that I often can't remember if I was told something or that I just think that I was. :wtf:

Makes sense I suppose, especially the wax part. I use resin protection anyway.

If its a decent wax, I can't really see a power washer degrading it. More likely to be over strong dilution of car shampoo or snow foam or some other product put over it. :)

I use Collinite 426 wax and can confirm that a power washer does nothing to remove it. Water continues to bead like crazy on my RCz months after it's application.

If u use C1 don't forget to bin any of the microfibers u've used to spread or buff it of with. Seemingly it's crystallise's in the cloths and will scratch the paint if u wash and try to reuse em. So if u've old ones use them
