Anyone considering a change to the new Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ?
Both getting rave reviews but yet to be tested on UK roads. It seems they are very sporty but lacking a bit in refinement compared to RCZ. A bit more expensive to run as well. looking forward to a test drive as asoon as.

Had my RCZ for coming up for 2 years and want to give the GT86 a try but also considering a TT if all else fails, for a change!

Just go for a BLACK EDITION TT the brz/toyota is old fashioned even obsolete before its even here, but maybe they will get kylie minogue to advertise it so then it will appeal to the gay sports car driver

Hi Guys, I put down my deposit on a BRZ only yesterday. Saw it in the flesh last week and it looks really nice. It bowled me over just like the RCZ did when I first set eyes on it. I have lost confidence in my 2.0HDiGT even though I love it to bits and drives fantastic. I have decided to cut my losses and run before any more issues arise. I am also sick to death of the attitude towards me and my car as being a pain in the neck from my dealer. They tell me they are only allowed to spend so much per car as it all comes down to cost in the end. With an attitude like that I’m off. Thank goodness I don’t have DPF issues or a knocking front end like some as these would really turn me gay; just don’t tell the wife and kids. :greetings-wavingblue:

Hi Jc73uk, I had valuations from a few dealers who wanted to offer very little over £16k. HPi valuation came out at top book £17,300 with another it came out at £17,100. I sealed a deal on £18k. I could probably get more if I sell private but I don’t particularly wish to pass my car onto anyone else on the forum even though I know some are looking. I will take the hit and move on.

I have for sale a 19inch Solstice Black Onyx with a new Continental 235/40/19 which has covered 1k miles but unfortunately has been punctured and repaired. (Used as spare with tyre sensor)

4 almost new Vredestien Wintrac 235/35/19 (one never been used on spare). These tyres are the best I have driven on and thoroughly recommend them for any conditions. I could have driven on them all year round and prefer them to the standard Conti 3 they are so good. I have to thank Donna for her recommendation. :greetings-wavingblue:

Going to test drive the gt86 this weekend and see for myself how it compares to my RCZ. Not planning on selling my RCZ as im really happy with it, but no harm having a quick spin. It would have to be a really smart sales man or dumb driver to fall for any salesman tricks....
Did I say dumb driver! DOH!

Well had a look at the GT86 in the flesh, and was not that impressed. RCZ is much more spacious and has much better looks. Will wait eagerly for RCZ MK II.

I too have a look at Toyota 86 recently. Not impressed. No WOW factor. The interior is poor / low quality material.

External wise, ordinary.

I didn't do a test drive, no matter how good the drive is, if the style / interior doesn't impressed me, I won't buy one. My RCZ is MUCH better.

I also didn't bother to test drive, as like yourself, the interior and boot failed all my criteria.

had a sit in one last week unbelievable how small they are, must be the lowest car for sale in that price bracket by a huge margin (except for kit cars)

the driving position is spot on you can see exactly where the front wheels are thanks to the bulges on the front arches (like Ferrari 458 and McLaren MP4-12C have).

I would have a go in one but do not want to fall in love with how it drives (imagine it is a hoot to drive).

The interior is very plastic and would say If I had one (not saying I will) I would want it re done inside to try to cover up all the plastic etc.

The boot is tiny would not be good going shopping in it and no chance of golf clubs in the back.

Rear seats are somehow worse than the RCZ (more supporting in the back but no way would you fit anything like a child seat in the back.

front seats are very much a tight fit It was extremely supportive for me and I am very much a slim build (people of larger build than myself may find it uncomfortable)

If I was buying a 2 door coupe today (if I did not have my RCZ) I am not sure which I would pick however the RCZ I would say is more liveable and the BRZ/GT86 is more fun than practicalities.

If anyone is interested I asked the salesmen at Toyota lead times and he said I could have a GT-86 next month (that was last month) and the BRZ January.

But I did get told that the differences between them are that the GT-86 has a softer setup than the BRZ and has a Toyota sat nav system on the option list whereas Subaru is more of a sporty setup and you get free wheel alignment every year and winter tyre storage with them and you have a different sat nav system on the option list

There was a red Toyota GT86 in the works car park this morning, which I had a look at as I walked by.

My first impression is that from the side or even front way on, it looks a lot like the old Hyundai Coupe in its shape.
It has an old design for a new car and definitely looks like it should be in late 70s or 80s. The interior looks very basic too.
Obviously I haven't driven one but from looks alone (I am a female after all), it certainly doesn't get my pulse racing :)
