Getting there.

After 7 hrs of non stop work my car is now getting to the standard that I want. Good wash first, tar removed then whole car waxed with Swissvax, engine bay finished and all of the crud that had collected near the bonnet lifters cleaned out. Not finished yet as trims and inside to do yet with Gliptone leather cleaner and conditioner.

What a cracking job you've done. Swissvax huh? Clearly a man with expensive tastes. Which one have you used on the RCZ? It looks great.

Many thanks for the comment :) I usually use the Best of show/Concours wax but I'm trying out the cheaper Onyx at the moment, it's a little too soft and nowhere near as good as the former but it's ok.

Great job there!! Hope the weather is better where you are to enjoy it. Bad time of year to keep a car clean for very long!!

Weather is rubbish but I wanted some protection on it, she will be getting wrapped up and put away soon until the Spring.

Does the best of show wax have a fairly low life expectancy between applications? :eusa-think:

Best of show will last for 6 to 12 months, it's amazing stuff.

The durability you are claiming for BOS seems a bit excessive, if you don't mind me saying. 4, possibly 5 months is the best I've seen. When you say 6-12 months is that when it's parked away in your garage for the winter? As a show wax, durability is not the key ingredient, the same for all show waxes.

Sorry but I disagree, One application of Swissvax Best of Shoe/Concours will last at least six months, a tub of the same lasted me almost 5 years and still produced the same results, that's why i's maybe so expensive.

Forgive me but I've been doing this since I was seventeen, they call it detailing now but I call it doing a job properly.

I don't mean to be argumentative but it really is quite a statement. Was it used on a daily driver or a garage queen? Take a look at any user reviews / experiences of this wax and you won't find any that state 6-12 months. A show wax is aimed primarily at adding great shine and lustre to paintwork, for shows. It certainly won't last during the winter months. I have Zymol Concours (the Swissvax alternative) and Definitive Wax Show Edition amongst other show waxes, none of them have long lasting durability.

Can I ask how you measure the durability of the wax?

Given that the Z is being garaged until Spring I would imagine it's not a daily driver.

Not been here for a couple of weeks but I've used Swissvax (formerly Swissoll) for about seven years now on a number of cars all of which where daily drivers and I have yet to find another wax that will match the concours. Once a year I use the Swissvax cleaner fluid which works like a clay bar but much better followed by the correct usage of the wax which needs to be applied in direct sunlight unlike others. I have only needed to wax my cars once a year, twice tops and although expensive it will last for a number of years.
