You're right guys....perhaps that's why the Swaps section of the DW site is so active

To be fair, my car was filthy. I put the snow foam on dry this time hoping it would linger longer. That and the pressure washer got 90% of the dirt off before I needed to go in with a bucket.

Might be a slight snag on my 2 recommendations for sealants: G2 is VERY expensive and Werkstat trigger is meant to be used on top of Prime. I'm not even sure I'll have the time to do all the layers it recommends. Maybe FK1000p or EGP may be a more practical (and cheaper ) route???? I don't need 8 months protection after all...just about 4.

I do find snow foaming the car dry works much better than if you rinse first.

Brooktop - The C2 isn't expensive. You only need the 100ml bottle, which is about £14.50. You don't use a lot, remember apply thinly, be it wax or sealant.

You don't have to use the Werkstat Prime before applying the Werkstat Trigger, you can use a polish of your choice. Personally I like to stick to the same manufacturer polish, sealants/waxes but there's nothing to say that you can't use others. It doesn't take long to apply the sealant either - that's the beauty of it, its much quicker than applying wax and waiting for it to cure, etc.

I assure you, you won't be disappointed with the sealant - its far less time consuming too !

Thanks Kerry - I've ordered the Jett Trigger from Polished Bliss (you may want to stock up as they have a free postage offer on until 20 Dec).

I will wash with washing up liquid and clay it. I suppose I should even use some SRP. It just seems strange to be using a polish that will actually have a mild abrasive effect on new paintwork. Or do you think it will act a bit like the Prime would?

I'm glad you decided on the Werkstat - it really is great stuff and so easy to use. Thanks for the heads up on the Polished Bliss offer but I took up one of their offers last month which was buy any Werkstat product and get another free, so I got 2 Triggers and 2 Werkstat Glos (detailing spray).

The SRP won't do your paintwork any harm. As you say, its only midly abrasive. I used the Prime on Gtechniq polish on mine (P1) which is more abrasive. Both will just help to correct any swirls or scratches that there may be. The good thing about white paint is that its very difficult to see any swirls or imperfections in the paintwork so a little SRP won't hurt.

Funny that one...seems to be disagreement on the DW site as to whether that is an old wives tale. And anyway, it would only be a one-off, not something I'd be doing again. Your car gets salt on it all the time at this time of year. As I understand it, it doesn't really hurt paint...just encourages corrosion on bare, unprotected metal.

On DW, someone has recommended Isopropyl Alcohol....however I may just wait a few weeks because I'm still getting pretty good beading ie the paint is still being protected. If most of it has gone naturally and then I wash with detergent, clay and SRP, surely all the wax will be gone.

Well that's what you want. Before you apply your sealant you need to make sure that all your wax is removed. Sealant won't adhere to the wax so that's why you need the washing up liquid or IPA to remove all traces. Claying will also help to remove any remains too.

Just one thing - the Supernatural wash mitt - you need to really pamper it. By that I mean, you need a pet brush or comb to brush/comb it before you use it for the first time and after every subsequent use, once its dried. In the drying stage, you have to make sure that its dry INSIDE as well as out. They can rot from the inside out if they don't dry inside properly (the same with any sheepskin wash mitt). Its recommended to cut a plastic bottle in half and put it into the cuff of the mitt whilst its drying to let the air inside so that it can dry properly. It does come with full instructions on how to look after it.

Ill post the pics of the 206 once shes had a shower...though I've already been given the trade in price and its been knocked off the money paid for the RCZ...so the dealer is bloody lucky I'm using her as a test piece!...maybe if I clean her in Jan, by March she will be filthy again....

Well a big box arrived today...(impressed with the speed of delivery considering the weather) addressed to my future RCZ. Cracked it open to reveal all the goodies for the car. I have left a bowl of sheba out and when I came back 10 min later it was gone...and there was a purring coming from the box!

That mit does look like an animal...still smells like sheep too!...now all I need is for the weather to get slightly better and the 206 will be given a good seeing too!

Your planned detail looks good however I think I would definitely clay your car this time round. After the winter weather we've had so far, I think it would be really beneficial to do it at this stage and would really prep your paintwork properly for the sealant.

I have got Werkstat Prime, which I used on my glass first to really deep clean the glass before I put the Gtechniq stuff on the windows. However, I didn't use it on the paintwork this time, as I wanted to try out my new polish (Gtechniq again). I didn't notice any difference with the Werkstat Trigger adhering to the base layer (polish) - it seemed to be just the same as when I used the Prime, so I don't think you would have see any difference if you used SRP. Don't forget the suppliers will say these things, if it means people are paying out money to buy more products :!:
