AT LAST A BIT OF DEBATE ON THIS FORUM ;) ................AND VERY WELCOME IT IS :) I JUST FOUND ANOTHER THING I LIKE ABOUT THE RCZ THE LEDS IN THE REAR LIGHTS/BREAKLIGHTS VERY NICE INDEED BUT ALSO A NOTCHY GEAR SHIFT BETWEEN 2ND/3RD AND THE BRAKE DUST IS LIKE NO OTHER CAR I HAVE HAD FOR SMALLER BRAKES AND I DONT USE THEM THAT MUCH COMING FROM A FN2 WHICH YOU CAN SLOW THE CAR SO MUCH WITH THE GEARBOX ONLY ;) TURBO LAG I HAVENT NOTICED ANY AT ALL AS I REV IT AND AT LAST I HAVE FOUND A GOOD DRIVING POSITION :D .

I AM A HONEST CHAP I PURCHASED MY MILANO RED FN2 TYPE R GT SAT/NAV 19"RAGE ALLOYS(£2,500) EXTRA  WITHOUT A TEST DRIVE AND HATED IT BUT SOON GREW TO LOVE IT LIKE NO OTHER CAR I HAD PREVIOUSLY OWNED I HAVE DONE EXACT SAME WITH THE RCZ AND HOPEFULLY WILL DO THE SAME.

PS.EP3 FN2 = XR3I'S...................NO NOT A CHANCE THEY HAVE FINELY ENGINEERED FOR HOT HATCHBACKS FOR THAT CROWN LOOK TO THE VXR BRAND OR FOCUS ST/RS "LETS JUST BOLT A TURB CHARGER ON IT" IT WILL BE FAST EVENTUALLY.

HONDA BUILT ALONG SIDE MUGEN A TYPE R MUGEN 20 THAT WOULD GIVE ANY 911 OR EVEN BEAT TIME WISE AROUND THE TRACK WITH ONLY 240 BHP

ER GO

I agree the Type R is not perfect, plastics are a bit cheap and the sound system whilst OK is certainly not the best, The paint is good on ours though.
I think the biggest problem with the RCZ is the gear box. True it is never going to steer like the Honda but not much does! It is funny but on long journeys, I have done a few already and the RCZ excells, becomes more of a GT car, nice and smooth. Maybe it is me, I thought with those killer looks it would have more sporting bias. :eusa-think:

I want to love this car, I really do, but I am finding it difficult, but having just spent the cash I don't have the option to change it for a while.

I have already thought about talking to some racing teams to see if anybody knows of a company that could strip the box down and change the ratio's. True it would kill the warranty but to have a lower geared, close ratio box in it would be worth it   , it could also be worth a remap, all things to look into when funds allow.

Finally though, it does look cool when you see your reflection in a window

I WOULD FEEL THE EXACT SAME AS YOU MY FRIEND IF I HAD SPLASHED £24K I HAVE LEASED THE RCZ FOR 2 YEARS ONLY 10K MILES A YEAR £280/MONTH £1850 DEPOSIT,ITS A DIFFERENT CAR FROM THE FN2 I KNEW THIS BEFORE PURCHASE AND AS YOU SAY NOT MUCH MOVES LIKE THE FN2 AND WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT NOTHING ELSE LOOKED LIKE IT EITHER AND STILL DOESNT BUT I UNDERSTAND YOUR FRUSTRATIONS WITH IT,WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO LEASE THIS CAR I COULD GOT A AUDI TT TDI FOR LESS DOSH...........BUT I THINK THEY ARE SO SO BLAND BAR THE TT-S AND THE OUTRAGEOUS TT-RS BUT THEY ARE OUTWITH MY BUDGET JUST NOW AND THE RCZ SAID BUY ME,ME,ME IN THE SHOWROOM.................AND BY THE TIME MY LEASE IS UP HOPEFULLY I WILL BE IN A BETTER FINANCIAL POSITION (RECESSSION GONE )TO GET THE NEW TYPE R OR SOMETHING SIMILAR OR BETTER NISSAN GTR ;)

OK, I am going to ask a couple of questions because I do believe that not everyone can be wrong and I am beginning to think that I may have issues with my RCZ, so do any of you suffer the same problems as me :?:

1) When in traffic or just moving off my RCZ feels like the throttle is not connected to the engine, as in a massive flat spot or delay in pick up, to give you an idea I can lose 6 to 8 car lengths just in pull away, now I do not drop the clutch at tick over but to get any reasonable pull away in traffic pull away I have to have 2,500 revs or more.

2) Turbo lag, between any shift, no matter how far up the rev range I change gear I still get a massive flat spot/delay for about a second which feels like turbo lag

3) Spooling time, my turbo seems to take an age to spool up, if you drop the hammer from say 3,500 revs then it just has no response, drop a cog and then you get this lag effect again

Before I get accused of being an old fart who does not get above 45 mph, I can assure you :eusa-whistle: I am not

BTW, my RCZ is a 156, I do know the performance figures so I know it is not and I don't expect it to be a 911 beater but on paper it is quicker than my old MX5 but in reality, it don't feel it :!:

My god  nice to hear less chat about the latest wax shampoo OR why my tailpipe in chrome matches the alloy :sleeping-yellow:

Cannot comment on the Type R,but being a true petrolhead im fully aware it's a true drivers car.
I moved across with some scepticism to the RCZ (200THP) from VW brand my car was the mk5 golf GTI,prior to that the Golf edition30 and before a brace of Scoobie's one WRX one STI (type uk).
For the petrol-heads on the forum i would genuinely place my RCZ in second the Edition 30 taking top marks as VW made some very subtle changes ie minor suspension changes thicker anti roll bars and some natural oversteer.

The RCZ 200 THP has in my opinion a natural almost perfect chassis,i reduced tyre pressure up front to eliminate understeer and has made it more comfortable and corners like a dream, brakes 330mm superb when working hot slightly spundgie when cold, far superior to my previous car's including the Brembo's on the type uk Scoobie

One of the biggest praises i can give is the gearing on the RCZ :eusa-think: i love the change of gearing on the correct power band no reduction in rev range almost and i dare say it sequential like, bottom to perhaps mid upper top end is excellent.

The negative i find with the RCZ is a true lack of mid upper to top end power that the gearing and engine cannot appear to reach, that is down to pure cubic capacity as all others are 2000cc,thats why i love my RCZwith lower tax and cheaper insurance.

I have said this a few times on the forum, all the RCZ needs in 200(THP) from is a limited version or full production special with remap of ECU and exhaust profile and release another 10/15bhp that will allow RCZ to use that extra grunt to match the GTI's and other 2litre competitor's,

Peugeot done correct thing by introducing the 200THP it's the way ahead and i for one think the RCZ could dominate if Peugeot from time to time listen to what (some customers) want, and produce another 205Gti and Rallye specials.

Sorry if we bore you but forums are supposed to be a showcase for people to discuss ALL things about their cars. To be honest, it bores me that people are so fixated with how fast their cars will go or how many BHP this or that has. Each to their own I say.

Hold on RCZ1,

Obviously all forums are pro whatever the forum is about because that is the common link, as you say every one is entitled to their opinion and as such should not get such a sarcastic response, I agree totally with Dolanog, but we are not fixated with horsepower figures, this thread is having an interesting debate with many points of view and so far no-one has been disrespectful to anyone else's opinions.

Thinking logically, if we were bored with the forum we would not be logged on to it!

Really pleased you are getting used to the RCZ  mine is white and they do turn heads. Nothing beats a well turned out car so good luck with the detailing  although white callipers could be optimistic! They would look stunning when freshly done but keeping them that way would be a labour of love!

I think you misunderstood me RCZ BHOY or maybe I didn't make myself clear. I DID say everyone is entitled to their opinion which is why I was making my point to dolanog that we discuss ALL things to do with cars (RCZ) which may include waxing or washing it, which he obviously finds boring. I was also making MY point that I find posts about the how fast this goes or whatever boring, because that does not interest me (not necessarily this particular thread). I'm a big believe in free speech.

hello guys and girls :D i have just spent my 1ST Day with my opal white rcz gt............which i took delivery of yesterday.

well what do i think of it so far
PROS.
1.its stunning to look at and i am so glad i got white as its best matches the cars shape.
2.the 19" standard alloys are really nice.
3.love the rear spoiler.
4.it sits real squat to the tarmc 235 tyres very cool..
5.didnt like the front end initially but its growing on me :D
6.very comfortable and quiet on the motorway great ride quality
CONS.
1.ITS NO type r fn2 my former car(gone but not forgoton) it could run rings round it on a track .BUT HEY ITS A DIFFERENT TYPE OF CAR.
2..steering wheel too big
3.cheap interior plastics in places (glove box, sides of centre console, whole underside of dash really.
5. polished cover of the ashtray came off in my hand on 1st opening.
6.electric seats the money could have been better spent elsewhere ie,xenon lights standard.
7.leather seats dont grip your body enough

OVER ALL.
I LOVE THE CAR ITS A FRENCH ALFA ROMEO,KIND OF IT SLOWLY STEALS YOUR HEART AWAY MAKING YOU FORGET THE SMALL GRIPES

To reply the topic starter:
PROS 1, 2, 3, 4 totally agree
PRO 5: for some reason the front bumper is to high from the ground. From some angles it looks like it's gonna take off
PRO 6: agree

CON 1: can't compare
CON 2: optional steering wheel from the sportpack is way better
CON 3: in compare to some other more expensive cars it's not that big an issue
CON 5: aschtray? where?
CON 6 and 7: I think the leather seats in my car do grip a lot more than the fabric ones in the testcar I drove.

i didnt THINK they done a sports pack for the interior??????? the only 2 optional extras worth getting on this car and 1 shouldnt even be an (OPTIONAL EXTRA===VISION PACK)A SCANDAL ON £25K CAR not to be on it.the other is sat/nav just because it enhances the dashboard.peugeot are trying to go the way of the mini WAY very galant but..............the rcz hasnt got the backing of BMW.

COME next year you will see peugeot adding these as standard which is there way sadly, but not the mini way or for that matter the audi tt way, this attitude reduces second residuals, hence high spec german cars that are loaded with extras stay very desirable and rsiduals stay high
