Glad you enjoyed it Mrizzle! As you say, the joy of films is that they're so subjective and everyone has a different takeout.
In the pub I was in on Saturday night three different tables were discussing this very film so it's clearly hitting the mark

Watched 'Flypaper' last night. Great easy Sunday night viewing and highly recommend if you've not seen it already.

Primarily it's a comedy about two simultaneous robberies taking place in the same bank at the same time.

Check it out on IMDB for more details.

Went to see Filth earlier in the week. Avoid, if you want my advice. You may not of course but don't say I didn't warn you :?

It started off well but by the end I'd seen 1hr 40 of unredeemable and thoroughly unlikable characters, with a fairly pointless story to boot. Lots of repeats of the same scene (policeman gets ratted/high/both, does something needlessly awful, repeat ad nauseam) and an ending that just seemed to say "and they all went on/would've gone on doing the same things as before. The end."

If it hadn't been for the act he committed with a 16yr old girl early in the film I could maybe, maybe have felt some sympathy towards the main character. But I couldn't see the point of a film where every character in it was caricatured and bloody awful and who were the same at the end as they were at the beginning.

Can't criticise the acting though.

See..this was a film that I wasn't really that bothered about seeing but actually really enjoyed it. Denzel is awesome in it. You're bang on about the crash sequence though!

Steve - you've pretty much confirmed all my fears about this film. I found the book similarly awful so will be taking your advice and giving this an absolute body swerve.

Not an overly constructive critiquing I'm afraid but on flights too/from NY last week and film selection was disappointing to say the least. Started with Pacific Rim (just don't!!!) followed by Man of Steel (or let's see how many things we can destroy and/or blow up in the name of special effect, and bugger any storyline). The final straw was Wolverine, which I couldn't face all the way through and finally gave up to stare out of the windows instead!

I quite enjoyed it too to be honest but did find it somewhat predictable. The bit in Israel (not wanting to give away any spoilers) is immense. I'd agree with your rating, 7/10 for me too. I prefer Walking Dead though...that's am awesome show and loving how the new series is unfolding!

Yeah that does look pretty decent! I look forward to your review!

I had intended on seeing the new Thor film last weekend but all the showings that we could make were in 3D and, to be honest, I think 3D adds nothing (but the odd visual dimension here and there). Also, I was damned if I was spending in excess of 24 notes on going to see one film!!!

Yup, agreed. 3D is a pointless way of extorting even more money from the public...and they wonder why so many people illegally download!!!

Would completely agree with one exception. Personally, thought the 3D version of Avatar was better than the standard version, however, it's the only exception to the rule

So, finally got round to seeing Thor (in 2D) on Sunday. I have subsequently been pondering if I can describe it as "nnyeh". As I suspect that I can't and fancy myself as being a little more eloquent than that I think I could summarise it as follows: a fairly average superhero yarn that spends too much of its time trying to raise laughs. It succeeds from time to time but they are quickly forgettable and lend little to the film. Loki steals the show once again but Anthony Hopkins puts in a decent turn as you would expect.

All in all, 6/10.

Im looking forward to this for my next superhero fix and have high hopes for it:

Yup, definitely Jassy. I was disappointed by it.

Dude, sorry to hear you're feeling so low. Get some good movies on the playlist and get some escapism. Sounds like a cracking deal on that tele but what happened to your other one?! Tell you what, I'd love one of these:

Now...how to justify that purchase.... :eusa-think:

Well i finally got round to seeing "Gravity" All i can say its the best movie i have seen in the cinema since "The Dark Knight Rises" Its that good, the cinematography is out of this world, the special FX are true and not stylised in anyway,it reminded of "Alien" in a certain way ie the "solo female" Sandra Bullock is excellent in this role, Clooney plays the wise cracking old timer astronaout very well indeed  truely the film of the year for me,that good i am going to take Avril ;) to see it.

Now i viewed this film in 4K res with Sony 4k Digital sounds which was unbelievable.

Please go and see this film
