That's a rather glowing review! So whatcha giving it out of 10 Jassy?

Jen and I went to see the latest instalment of 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised by it! In fact, I enjoyed it considerably more than the latest Thor. It's actually pretty dark and there are some cracking performances throughout. Jennifer Lawrence is brilliant as is Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The ending is slightly annoying because it more stops than ends but the concluding part is set up well.

I'm giving it 8/10.

I saw Gravity at the cinema last night. Its the first film ever to nearly send me off to sleep :?
The story line sounds good, but the content of the film was lacking. There was alot of silent parts, and there werent really anything extra to what the main story line is.
Overall its a 2/10 for me. It gets a 2 purely for visual effects.

PS, read Jassy's review after posting this lol. I guess I like a bit more action/sci-fi.

Each to their own abz :) lt was a stunning looking film, but with only 2 of a cast and a film based mostly on sciencetific facts not fiction, l thought it was very realistic in its portrayal of what would happen in this situation,my type of film where science facts meets cinema, as l have said the best sci-fi film in year's

I agree, its was very factual and realistic. As a review is personal to the reviewer, please don't count on my review when deciding to see it or not :) It purely wasn't my sort of film :)

Lining up a visit to see Gravity in 3D early next week so fingers crossed it appeals to me more than it did Abz! :sleeping-yellow:

In the meantime, I finally got round watching '2 Guns' at the weekend with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. Now I've always been a DW fan but have almost the opposite opinion of Mark Wahlberg, but have to say, I think he suited his role perfectly, and apart from the slightly daft last 5 minutes, I thought it was a good film which kept its pace throughout as well as keeping you guessing who'd been doing what. :wtf: Definitely in my top 5 for the year. 8/10

I was very dubious about the prospect of watching a film all set in space with only two proper cast members (can't say too much for those that haven't seen it yet!) but against my expectation I really enjoyed it. Far from sending me to sleep I found it quite gripping and suspenseful. I would recommend it.

Yup sad news indeed. The crash scene looks horrific. Hopefully he didn't suffer!

I saw gravity a few weeks back and thought it was very good. I never felt bored at all and I would certainly recommend it. 8/10 for me! And I don't go into sci-fi movies all that much!

Watched the latest Wolverine flick last night. My advice, don't. Utterly terrible script and plot, dodgy special effects and utter waste of £3.49. I'm giving it 1/10 (but the 1 is mostly just for the acrobatic ninja samurais).

Just been reading that Empire magazine chose 'Gravity' as their film of the year.

Man of Steel.....where do i start :eusa-think: As a bluray disc i will give 7/10 ie for sound and picture quality,as for the film...its a remix of director Richard Lester's superman/superman2 with Krypton dying, baby sent to earth, smallville flashbacks,"Costner plays his earth dad very well",General Zod etc,etc "300" director Zach synder directed this film and the great fight scenes in "Man of Steel" show great similarities with the above mentioned film,Crowe plays Jor-el perfectly  far better than Brando ever did "never was a fan of him" As for Henry Calvin the boy done very good indeed in his role as the Superman  and maybe on his next outing as "Clarck kent" he will be even better..........theirs a lot of room for his potential as Superman, but can this be said for the potential of Superman sequels..........where do they go from here "ben affleck" :wtf: :wtf:

:) 7/10
