Engine Cooling when driving

Hi, i recently purchased a 2013 Peugeot RCZ 1.6 petrol and recently i have been having the issue where the engine temperature has been rising very slowly at idle to 90 degrees but as soon as you start driving the engine temps drop to around 70 degrees. like the thermostat is 'stuck open' and the air is cooling the car too much

its currently at the garage still and the mechanic cannot figure out what the issue is... it has had 2 new thermostat housings fitted and it is still running with the same issue.

there have not been any codes showing up on the OBD readers and when tracking the temps with the reader they match what the gauge on the dashboard is reading. the drop in temp when driving is steady and doesn't fluctuate rapidly and the engine never goes over the 90 degree mark. it all seems to be related to the amount of air flowing through the engine. the only other issues i have noticed are that the air con stopped working at the same time and i have the trademark timing chain tensioner rattle when cold (which obviously isn't good if the engine is running cold)

has anyone else come across this issue and found a way to fix it?

thank you

I assume they fitted the correct Thermostat housing for your engine as there are different variant s attributed to engine codes ?
A fluctuating temp can be several things faulty thermostat housing ( wrong one fitted to the car?) Temperature sensor Malfunctioning possibly failing leading to erratic temps showing on the gauge the loss of Air con can also be a faulty thermostat or gas leak easy way to check temp is leave car idling for 20 mins then feel the bottom hose if its hardly warm its the thermostat not opening correctly

Since the AC is not working, it could be the same problem I had. According to OBD, it was the cooling fan that was not working properly "wrong speed". I think it lowers the temperature so that the engine does not get too hot when the fan is not working properly. Because 90 degrees on the meter is actually 104 degrees. I changed the fan and relay but that did not help. The fault seemed to be the first ground point that is screwed into the frame under the battery where there was a poor contact surface.
