today I was leaving home and when I turned key to start my car the first message on screen was "Economy Mode Activated" or something like that. It was the first time I was message like that. Usually it is "oil level correct". What that Economy- thing mean? I can not find that from the manual nor google. Anyone knows about that? -juma-

It's a power saving mode to stop the battery being drained. It usually comes on after a few minutes after you stop the engine but leave the ignition on. I believe it is mentioned in the manual but can't remember where. If your car drives alright, I wouldn't worry too much.

Ok. It was weird to see something like that, though. Might that indicate battery problem in general?

Possibly, but unlikely - unless there are other symptoms, like difficulty in starting, slow engine turnover etc.

Nope it's perfectly normal. I get it after around 5 minutes if i've been sitting with the radio on and the engine off. Nothing to worry about.

The car goes into Economy Mode - straightforward and supposed to happen.
Bit irritating if you want to listen to the radio when the engine is off for more than 3 minutes or if you want to move your seat forwards / backwards.

I read about the Economy Mode somewhere.
Now let me think, where did I read it.....mmm, come on brain get in to gear.

Oh Yeah - It's in the MANUAL that comes with the car :brickwall:

;)

Surprised it said "Economy Mode Activated", As I was under the impression that it couldnt be De-Activated ! So whats the point in telling you its Activated ?

I can understand getting a message if the radio / cd ect ect player has been running with the engine off but not when the car is first started, maybe I'm missing something :eusa-think:

Believe me if theres one thing I would shut down permanently on the RCZ then it would be this irritating bit of "technology"

Whats the point of having a DVD player when you have to keep starting the engine every few minutes to keep the DVD playing, in my opinion thats not exactly "Eco Friendly" :brickwall:

That's why I'm here my friend

Here for you and all my FFM (Fellow Forum Members) to assist with stating the obvious and to sympathise with the daily struggles and traumas of life such as: What colour should I pick; Is my RCZ really a TT; Is a TT really an RCZ; Should I wash my car on odd or even days

Hopefully, I come across as the caring / sharing person that I really am with a shedload of patience and tolerance ;) :eusa-shhh:

And that is why I'm confused, I thought the message usually only appears if the car has been using up battery power without the engine running, I've not seen the message when the car is first started up ?

My 407 comes up with 'Economy Mode Activated' about 95% of the time on the first key-turn of the day - it's a surprise when it doesn't.
If there's one bit of Peugot-ology I'd dispense with (or change) it would be the retched economy mode - ?make it selectable, like DRLs?

As far as my veh is concerned, it'll turn that mode on after probably 15 minutes of the stereo unit being used (engine off, key out). Supposedly, the amount of time before it turns on is proportional to battery charge and I guess calculations of battery usage depending on what source are you using to play music. As an example, I can listen to the radio for 20 minutes top, 15 or less using a pendrive and 5 minutes or just a bit more when I'm playing a CD. I'd just take it to the local dealership to have it checked, it seems odd to me that you have that message as soon as you turn the key...

I tend to agree with Junkers, my Eco message only show's itself if I've had the radio/cd player/ satnav on for around 15 / 20 mins then it basicaly goes into Eco Mode and shuts everything down until I start the engine, then depending how long I've run the engine for will give more time to use the radio ect ect next time they are used without the engine running.

I would get it checked out because why would it go straight into Eco Mode if the Engine is running and no accessories had been running ?

Now that I think about it I'd definitely have it checked, just as a reminder, even windows are locked if eco mode kicks in.

NOT good if your on the verge of tipping yourself over the edge after listening to around 15 mins of soul destroying music, then you change your mind about the whole thing but then everything shuts down including your windows and your hose pipe is still pumping the bad stuff in through a tiny gap in the windows. :?

Peugeot need to warn anyone who's one on the brink about this. :D

It could be even worse if you lock yourself in with what the owner's manual calls ''super-cierre'' (I guess super-lock or sth like that) then you'll not be able to open the doors from the inside of the car, not good if you're drunk. Thank god I don't drink

Maybe because the car went in to eco mode earlyer. If you put the contact on just before you want to start, it tells you it's in eco mode. The car at that point doesn't know if you want to start it up or just put the contact on.
It's a car, it does n't have AI. It just does what the guy with the computer told her to do, nothing more, nothing less.

If you have to run to the dealer every time the car does something you don't expect it to do...

From what I understand it showed the message when he/she went to had started the car.
I understand where your coming from, ie, ignition contact first, but I read into it that the engine was started then the message appeared. ?

My car has had the same message a couple of times recently just before starting up. Last year once or twice when listening to the radio with the engine not running it came up with the message and switched the radio off. I phoned the local dealer after Christmas and he reckons its nothing to worry about unless it comes on every time and should then be checked out. He reckons the cold weather has a lot to do with it. It tells all on page 167 of your manual which came with the car what its there for and what it does.
