Clutch pedal issue

Oh dear, today my clutch pedal has decided that moving from side to side would be a good idea. Feels very strange when changing gear now. It has a lateral travel of about 3/4 inch each way and can be "wobbled" from side to side . :cry:

Phoned the dealer who has booked me in next week to have a looky

Any others had this?

no not had that problem, but while on the issue of pedals, the rubber insert on my accelerator pedal has worn smooth and level with the pedal surface. i woder if the rubber can bee replaced on the pedal without much bother.

Cheaper to remove the heavy right foot Bee :wave: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

dropped it to the dealer early this morning ............just received call back from the dealers saying "the clutch pedal has snapped and should not be driven :eek: We'll keep the car here - oh theres more............theres a 10 day order time from Peugeot France for the past and in the meantime how are you fixed for a vehicle?"

Slightly taken aback I tell him that I'm not fixed for a vehicle actually and he says that he can let me have a courtesy car from tomorrow.................as I breathed a sigh of relief he added................."for a few days"

I havent argued the point yet but

Dont you think they should provide the vehicle FOC until they fix it? after all its a warranty issue isnt it? :eusa-think:

They should and i would definatley stand my ground.

At the end of the day it is their product that has failed and through no fault of your own , so there is no reason why you should be put out of pocket or inconvenienced in any way.

I entirely agree with jactac. They should supply a replacement vehicle. If they get stroppy I'd start quoting The Consumer Protection Act 1987 (although I'm not legal expert).

Yeah Steve,
the sales of goods act states something about any product sold "must be fit for it's intended purpose"

It can all be found within this consumer write up :

Relevant or Related Legislation:
Sale of Goods Act 1979. Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994. The Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002


"Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale)".

So a product or part within a product (ie clutch pedal) must be fit for purpose.

Heres another interesting point within the act :

"It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract".
So i would take this to mean that as a purchaser your contract is with the dealer and not Peugeot as the manufacturer, if so, a dealer can blame the manufacture all they like, it is still the dealer that has to finaly put things right. Unless the dealer is classed as an agent working on behalf of the manufacturer :eusa-think:

Oh and this one is good too.
"For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement)".
Does this mean then that in effect we have a 6 year warranty and not 3 years as Peugeot say ?

All interesting stuff eh, and just to get a clutch pedal repaired. :lol:

all good stuff indeed but nowhere does it say "and whilst they are effecting a repair, the customer will be given free use of a replacement to the same spec".

Anywayhoo I'm due to collect the courtesy car this pm and my initial thoughts are that I'll agree (if forced to) that I shall only have it for a few days but then just carry on using it and not take it back and wait for them to tell me the car is ready.

The motor industry "code of conduct" may be of use .............it says

Our policy on courtesy vehicles will be set out in the product literature. Where a loan
car is made available, this will be as reasonable alternative transport rather than an
exact replacement of your vehicle.
trouble is I havent now got the "product literature" we'll have to wait and see what they say this afternoon

It doesnt say they gotta give you a loan car, but it does say that if a product is faulty it has to be replaced or renewed at " no financial cost to the purchaser".
Therefor, if you needed to hire a loan car whilst yours was in for repair then the seller, in this case the dealer would have to meet any finacial cost that has come your way.

You have to put your point across strongly that it is their product that has failed and has therefore put you in a very inconvenient and unfortunate position.
You have a family, you work, you cannot afford to pay for a loan car, you also you have a statutory right to continue with these needs and it is this failure of their product is now affecting your statutory rights.

Something like that anyway, so just try blagging a loan car out of them and pretend you know your rights and if all else fails, just go in and kick arse, you're a Bluebirds fan mun, i've seen you lot kicking off down the Vetch . :eusa-whistle: :lol:

I turned up and without any more conversation about how long I could have it the guy handed over the keys to a 207 with 600 miles on the clock - no charge- so reasonably happy....................mind you it's shite compared to my RCZ apart from the lion on the bonnet which does look rather cool. :cool: I nearly came a cropper when going on to the first roundabout though - I made a dash for a space which the RCZ wouldve eaten for breakfast but the 207 didnt respond to my right foot at all it seemed. :crazy:

yep i had a 207 courtesy car while my bee was beeing repaired, were not very impressed with it apart from it not costing me anything.

Oh Joy! Just picked up my beastie with new clutch pedal ...................aint life wonderful again?
