Here's how I got on Snowy:

Not a single mention of anything to do with brake fluids was alluded to and, to be honest, very little done for the cost IMO!!

I've had brake fluid changed at 60.000 km service.
I can imagine why this will be.
Over time water will get into the brake fluid which will result in brake failure (i.e. loss of brake pressure) when pushing it to the limit.

Its down to moisture getting into the fluid etc and not so effective :eusa-think: My sons first cars fluid was so old it was dark brown, brakes worked fine tho
Why not do it yourself?
No fancy equipment required a plastic bottle and piece of rubber tubing and a litre of brake fluid.
Garages use a pump/vacuum system to remove and will charge at least £60 plus vat, they quote the old warranty thing if its not done.

It is as said part of the 60k km service. I had my brake fluid changed at 51.000 km but only cause i thought the brakes were getting bad. Changing the oil really made them feel like new again so it's recommended! ;)

R & D at Gateshead quoted £49 for brake fluids change at my recent 20K/24 month service, the service desk commented it was optional but recommended. I declined the offer as I have just clocked 13K miles, I later read in my service book 'brake fluid should be changed every 20K/24 Months'.

I would agree with previous comments, if it 'should' be changed it should be included in the service price & not an optional extra . . . .very strange :eusa-think:

I have said before and at the risk of sounding like a parrot, I am totally bamboozled by Peugeot's approach to servicing schedules. In the days of my youth a service was prescribed by the manufacturer and it was simple. A service became due at set intervals or earlier if mileage dictated, and there was a schedule for what parts needed to be changed and what checks needed to be carried out.

So what has changed? We now have identical cars being serviced at different intervals and different dealers performing different levels of service and most confusing for me is this new concept of optionals :eusa-think:

Peugeot UK. Sort this mess out. A service should be standard across the network and all dealerships should be left in no doubt as to exactly what is and what is not a requirement of any given service. It's a bloody mess at the moment and we the customer have no clue as to what is or is not being quoted for when obtaining prices for any given service

Hi all, ...i would like to add to the discussion of this motion as few weeks ago I attended my Peugeot dealership and the confusion of what my service would cost ensued as there was no straight answer ,,AND we also entered a discussion about a service plan!

Firstly, dealerships openly rip off customers with regard to OIL, charging £114 for around 5 litres of 'Mobil 1 XE3000' when you could buy 5 litres of it for less that half that AND they're buying at a great discount it large drums !
You can buy 2 x 5 litre containers of the RCZ Peugeot recommended fully synthetic TOTAL 5w30 oil for £50 OR 6 litres of it for around £36 on Amazon OR the Mobil 1 XE3000 is available too if you prefer.

SECONDLY:

Ive never had a service plan before and now understand that its not what I initially thought it was ,,in that its just a basic "SAVINGS ACCOUNT" in which the dealer acts as the bank/buildings society! Also depending on what service was next due and estimated annual mileage dictates how much the service plan would cost per month. Otherwise my payments wouldn't work out to cover my next service and i'd have to pay the difference, i.e: next service cost minus service plan payments to date.

In an attempt to make their "savings account" as that is simply what it is appear more attractive they add a few benefits. The latter basically includes 10% off any other work carried out and collection of your vehicle when its service comes around BUT only within a set radius which I'm outside of anyway! SO, once again it appears that its not quite 'what it says on the (Peugeot) tin'!

Other that those Z' owners that have got their cars on a lease type agreement I wonder what the take up is of these cleverly hidden savings accounts?? :eusa-think:

.the big blue (wishing to have this scam discussed in a free vote in the house ,,& YES I am passionate about rip offs ! ) :sleeping-yellow:

The £114 i paid for 8.5 lts ( thats what its takes) , but even mytres.co.uk do 20lt for £108 !!

You can always supply your own oil , which i might do in the future

One thing that does nark me is they always charge for screenwash, mine are always full and i make sure so i get that knocked off the bill and have the conversation n front of other customers.

Did get charged £36 for a set of Bosch wiper blades before and i told them to take them off as i only replaced 2 months ago and they also didnt ask. They left them on as the fitter had bent the others in half

Technically that was illegal, wilful damage. Even after removal they're still your property in law and you do actually have the right to ask for any parts removed from your car to be returned to you. No one ever does ask of course but a garage has to be able to do so if asked.

My question would have to be. WHY, did the fitter consider it necessary to replace the already replaced wipers? Surely, that should only be done if they had been tested and found to be defective and even then only after obtaining your agreement? Appalling practice here

I know garages have big pushes on parts , possibly the fitters are part of that bonus scheme if it exsists?

services are daylight robbery.. always have tried to supply the oil myself and buy in bulk when on special offer.
A garage charging high street PER LITRE is an absolute farce though. especially when they buy in massive 55 gallon drums for next to nothing.

I have just been told that the £225 I was quoted for my "all in" 2 year service, will not cover the £49.50 to change the brake fluid. So the actual cost of my 2 year service is now £274.50....................................I am not a happy bunny, the cracks in my relationship with Peugeot are beginning to appear    :( :(

I suspect that this is because it isn't actually a part of the service at the two year interval. Still, if they're recommending it and saying that it should be done then I agree with you, it should be included in the price that you were quoted.
