It is the same with me and cars. When I buy a used one, I always look for an almost perfect one or I need to start swapping parts to make it almost perfect.
This is why I prefer to buy them new. But this is over now as none of the new cars I can afford makes me wanna have it. I'll stick to my...
I'd say it is up to 80% down to the owner/driver how the seats wear off and the rest to the material/maintenance.
I always paid attention when getting in and out. Sure, there were days when I forgot/was in hurry/it was raining and I just wanted to jump in/etc. But still, most of the time I took...
When I bought it new back in 2014 I used products from Meguiars. Two, maybe three times a year I cleaned the leather with a leather cleaner and then applied leather conditioner.
Few years later I switched to products from the company Colourlock and purchased their 3-steps products for leather...
I had the same OCD with stepping in and out of my R. You're not alone :)
When stepping in, I held to the steering wheel and slid past those side bolsters into the seat.
When stepping out, I placed my left hand on the door sill and lifted me over the seat bolsters to step out of the car.
The...
I had Pipercross on mine for a while. The intake sound got a tiny bit louder, hardly to notice. Powerwise I did not spot any difference, also in regards of the turbo picking up the pace. Therefore during a service they swapped it back to normal filter (with my OK) and this how it ended.
Looking into the 156 model as a reliable RCZ choice seems to me a contradiction. That is the most unreliable model of all RCZ out there.
Or are you limited to picking the 156 and need the most reliable among these?
Before falling for some horror stories get the basics sorted in the first place.
Ignition coils, plugs. If they are OK, then move on to more expensive parts like the fuel pump (can be checked before replacement is required).
In Romania you will for sure find a garage which can do a camera check...
12k on a single oil change might be on the limit as yours is pushed to 300 horses.
I'd shorten it to 8000 km. As good as Total Quartz oils are the additives degrade quickly on engines like the R engine.
The R seats look horrible after only 77k km.
And what the heck happened to the R plate inside? Did the owner hammer it down?
Other than that it looks decent. But in my opinion this car was not owned by a true enthusiast.
On a straight you stand no chance against a TT RS. They pull under 10 sec from 100-200 where a healthy RCZ R does that in about 14 sec. Not even mentioning the traffic lights stand offs.
My post was also referring to the way how the car handles on B roads.
When you refer to the RS I assume you're talking about the TT RS.
I only have some experience in the 2nd gen TT RS, from around 2011 or 2012, I do not remember exactly the year any more. And some driving experience on the RS3 from 2019.
For me the TT always felt heavy on the front. This...
I've seen few "dropped" RCZs. But I suspect it was done for looks only. So hardly any feedback on actual improvement of driving characteristics could be expected from that source.
Taking a driving course is not a bad idea. I did that too. It was more about safety but they put us on a skid pad too. That was a lot of fun!
The R is also very well suited for heel-to-toe driving technique. The pedals are nice levelled and throttle response is quick enough to blip that engine...
Thank you, I enjoy this thread as well. Let's keep it alive.
Monaro is such a cool car! I'd love to have a ride in one of those.
Having this power at the rear wheels sends smokes of joy into the air, haha.
Oh, so you can directly compare the R to a TT?
I did that too. The TT is disappointing...
