I have another question...I think you said you used a band saw to cut out the profiles. Would this be a band saw with a wide blade? (in my case, we're talking a band saw in the machine shop with a blade an inch wide). I was thinking that the block would have to be 'maneuvered' around, like when...
I'd say it's your timing chain/adjuster, as your description is identical to mine. The noise subsides as the oil heats up, but I strongly suggest you get the chain checked out!
Ok, thanks for your help. I'll update when I've made my blocks. At least they should save those pesky jacking points from getting damaged again!
Also....I can see how you can cut out the shape with a band saw, but how did you cut out the vertical clearance 'slot' for the wider part of the...
Thanks for the info. I bought two blocks, as I didn't realise you'd cut one in half. I guess I'll have a spare! The only thing puzzeling me is that our cars are quite low to the ground, and the rubber block can't leave much room. In fact, it would be really great if you could let me know the...
Hi, I presume the brackets were 'L' shaped ant welded to the inside of the bracket and to the floor? Did the garage that did this remove the seats, carpets and protect any wiring with fire-resistant sheeting? Thought of getting this done, but seems a lot of trouble.
Going down the JvdBosch...
Found and ordered! Now just have to copy yours! I intend to use a 'profiler' that you use when laying carpets or floor tiles etc...
Final (daft?) questions:
Did you use the whole block, i.e. is the block in the pic still 180mm x 160mm x 80mm, or did you trim it down, maybe to get enough ground...
Can you remember where you bought the rubber blocks, e.g. EBay? Is it just generic 'hard' rubber, or a certain type of rubber? Sorry about the questions, but might as well do it right! Thanks.
Ps, why didn't the Peugeot design engineers put in a proper jacking point?! Did they just forget and...
Is there any chance you could post a drawing of the blocks showing the dimensions? I'll gladly use it as a guide to making a pair. Looking at your pics, do the blocks gave some kind of metal 'bracket' on the top, maybe for strengthening?
So, based on other posts, it's ok to lift the rear of the...
Just as an update, this was the timing chain and I had a new one plus tensioner etc fitted, and all good again. Work was carried out by C&G Cars in Leicester, who I can't recommend enough. The whole job was carried out in one day, and they are extremely helpful and professional.
As we know, the RCZ jacking points are rubbish. I've had to have both front ones bent straight and rewelded, as when they bend, then pry open the sill. Not sure when it happened, I suspect with the previous owner, but surely would have been picked up by the MOT before I bought it? I did have two...
Looking at the Autel AL519 as it's mentioned here on this forum so obviously works with the RCZ. About £60. There's also the AL619EU at about £100, but I think the AL519 us probably adequate.
AL519 reviews anyone?
I've been checking out OBD2 scanners. I can't seem to find anywhere that currently actually has any AL619EU (including Autel), so are you happy with the AL519? It's actually fully compatible with the RCZ?
Thanks.
Good news! Took car to mechanic who used obd2 scanner. Found a rich mixture fault code, cleared it, and car back to normal. It's like a miracle. Now car responds immediately to throttle. He suspects that being stuck in heavy traffic somehow caused the EMS to go into some kind of protective mode...
Ok, why would this behaviour occur only after sitting in a very slow moving traffic jam for a prolonged period? Having a service in a few weeks and then I'll get it in to Peugeot for a scan (Diagnostic scan?). Obviously a scan would be best done when in this 'odd' state, but I guess a diagnostic...
