A couple of years ago, I had my front top mounts replaced under a “notice” from Peugeot.
Apparently a notice is like a recall, but it stops short of contacting owners. If an owner takes their car in to a dealer and mentions a concern about a part, the dealer should check to see if there is a...
Forget going anywhere near a dealer.
I have just made an enquiry against a 45k car, mine is a 63 plate 200GT low mileage, every kit on, pristine condition, one of the most sought after colours, cost new over £32k with all the bits.........
They offered me £4300.
When I stopped laughing, I...
Water ingress into the boot lock has been known to throw up all kinds of electrical issues you would not associate with the boot. I think I have heard of door windows having electrical glitches that have eventually been traced to the boot lock having water ingress. It might be an idea to check...
As said above, the valve issue is not a regular on these pages, and this seems to be where most people come with their car problems, so I assume it’s not a common fault.
The timing chain tensioner problem was pretty much (but not exclusively) restricted to the Mk1 RCZ (pre face lift model...
As far as I know, mirrors on the RCZ were all colour coded unless you opted for the Black Pack, when the mirrors would be gloss black like mine, or I think an option was carbon mirror covers.
Sounds like you have yourself a really nice car there 👍
Last service they wanted to change mine (main dealers - service contract) but as it was extra & I already pay them a fortune for my service contract I told them to leave it.
I think I’ll get them to have a look next time 🤔
A 62 plate will be a Mk1 so it will have the original type of timing chain tensioner. When you start the car from cold, listen to see if there is any kind of rattle. I’m pretty sure that not every Mk1 has suffered from the issue, and it may even depend on how well it’s oil levels have been...
Hi Pete, great choice of car 👍
the timing chain issue was more or less restricted to the Mk1 RCZ which ran from 2010 to 2013. From 2013 on, the MkII model had a modified chain tensioner fitted, which didn’t seem to suffer the same failure rate as the earlier models.
most Mk1 cars will by now...
I concur with the above comments.
There is no way that a timing chain issue can be causing oil contamination of your coolant system. To my knowledge, there is no direct connection of the oil lubrication system for the timing chain to the coolant system for the car.
