Change of plan already.
Gaffer says that's too far. So north instead.
Apparently we can come that way home.
Doesn't change the distance though!

Part two
Today is the trip in to Scotland and on to Oban.
The plan is to carry on ignoring motorways as A I hate them and B I hate them.
So we're heading east to Hexham then north through the kielder forest.
Then reconvene to discuss tactics just outside Edinburgh.
Yes a slightly longer route...
Part one. Got to Carlisle, 200 miles.
The skip performed perfectly. +40mpg, AC on all the way.
Temp read 33 degC outside at various times.
Going for tea and alcohol. Tomorrow up to Oban, another 200 miles. Hopefully some good pictures.

I never buy local these days. My first few cars were local, but I've found Grimsby seems to be very expensive these days. I'm blaming the lack of cash buyers and people just loading up on finance.
My 1st 407 was from Nottingham. My 2nd one from Bristol. My 508 was from King's Lynn and my RCZ...
Welcome, got any pics?
Don't worry about a short trip of 100 miles.
Mine never batted an eyelid on the non stop 6 hour drive to south Wales, and it's going up to Oban on Thursday.

Re: +100.000 miles with the RCZ R (my story)
I'm skeptical about these chemical cleans.
How do they clean the intake valves on a direct injection engine?
On a non di engine the fuel washes over and cleans them, but in a di engine this is impossible due to design.

I have a new one on the way.
Before anyone asks, at no point did I ever check the tyre pressures with the compressor on the "inject schmoo" setting...

Chains clatter, not tick.
Obviously the noise will be from the timing gear end of the engine. If you can start it from cold it will definitely help.
They aren't a quiet engine by any
means, but the clattering sound is fairly easy to identify.
Mine was done at 60k.
Chain, guides, tensioners...
To be honest if you can find one with a new chain and tensioners they're not much trouble.
Although it's not that expensive a job.
Mines just had it all done. Averages 38/39 mpg and is a lot of fun.

You don't mention what engine it is. Petrols do use a certain amount of oil anyway.
If you aren't sure, don't use it. I assume if it's burning coolant it will be steaming from the exhaust.
Coolant/water and oil don't mix meaning you will probably end up borking something if you run the engine...
Mine hasn't even got the goo in it and it passed its MOT a couple of weeks ago.
In fact I don't think the guy even opened the boot.
