156 model. Anyone run one without issues?

I forgot to say that I put 5W40 oil in the 156 HP. I am convinced that the oils in turbo engines degrade a lot and cannot last 30,000 km as the maintenance book says. They also reduce viscosity to save fuel when in reality a less viscous oil lubricates worse. This affects many more engines...

156 model. Anyone run one without issues?

I bought my 156 HP with 108,000 km, now it has 138,000 km. At 115,000 the high pressure fuel pump was repaired, I installed it myself and it only cost me €110. I also changed the timing chain tensioner. I think the rocker cover has never been removed, meaning the chain was never changed. The...

THP156 and CRC GDI Valve Cleaner?

In a video I saw that you can see the carbon deposits on the valves by putting a borescope through the spark plug hole, .... I think I'll buy one on Aliexpress.

It doesn't have to be the timing chain, it could also be that the Vanos system is not working well.

Car juddering while at certain high speed, what could be the problem?

I also noticed that vibration at 100-120 km/h as if the engine was jerking. The problem was the balancing of a rear wheel, it disappeared after going to the tyre shop. Furthermore, this vibration can cause the tyre to wear poorly, with saw teeth.

THP156 and CRC GDI Valve Cleaner?

On YouTube there are many videos on the subject, on THP engines, such as the RCZ, and on other direct injection engines such as TSI, or Ecoboost. The truth is that with those sprays, looking at the before and after photos, the difference is small, they don't clean much.

    Rear view mirror

Also, if you use something as a lever, insert the lever just a little because if you insert it too far it can break the adjustment motor. It is best to push the glass from above so that it comes out from below and try to separate it only with your fingers by pulling from below.

    Tensioner replacement

I think that changing the tensioner is beneficial, because it is the main culprit, poorly designed, with a small and weak spring. It worked for me, changing the tensioner ended the rattling. As the chain starts to rattle, it starts to be ruined, sometimes skipping teeth or even breaking.

    Tensioner replacement

I changed the tensioner at 123000km because it rattle a little sometimes about two minutes after starting from cold. Now with 136000km it never rattles. I'm not entirely sure but I don't think the chain has ever been changed. My car is from 2010. I think you can wait longer to change it.

    Has it ever been disassembled?

Sealant removed, it was very superficial, just pulling a little it has fallen off. Now I believe the cover has never been removed. Car has 136000 km Thank you !

Pushbutton key fob: Essential, or can you do without?

No, it is not possible, if you separate the key metal sword and try to start the car with that alone it does not work. The electronics of the key have an RFID chip that if it is not detected, the car will not start. For many years ago all European cars have had this anti-theft system. But...

    Head gasket ?

Valve oil seals or wear on the piston rings and/or cylinders. When idling, the vacuum inside the piston and intake manifold is high and can absorb oil through the valve stems or pistons, which is expelled and burned when accelerating.

    Has it ever been disassembled?

I had seen it in the oil pan in older cars, in the corners of the crankshaft passage. There would be the answer to my question, knowing if they put that sealant in originally

    Has it ever been disassembled?

I have had my 2010 156HP for 2 years and the previous owner did not give me any repair history, he only had it for 3 months. Do you think the rocker cover in the photos was ever removed or is it the original assembly? I know that the black paste is put on the joints when there is a change in...

Seeking new engine for RCZ 1.6GT.

Here in Spain there are car scrapyards with shelves full of engines, they can even offer you a guarantee, although it would be difficult to find one of an RCZ since it is a rare car here, but I think that in the UK there are many more and it will be easier
