Welcome along.
What's the plans for the car? Is it for yourself or to fix and sell?
I think it'd be interesting to see a repair thread. It doesn't look bad at all, but the repair costs were huge.
I've don't understand why the insurance company doesn't take the service history and spare...
The right one will come along. I do agree there is too many things not sitting right.
The R is a good car to drive. I've switched back to FWD after many years of RWD and four wheel drive. It's different, but once you get in the groove it's good.
It's easier to drive a FWD car fast. I do like...
The gearbox is good. We've got a Mini Clubman S with the same engine and the gear change is nothing like each other. Neither is the engine characteristics.
My Astra was phase 4. I was quicker than VX220 turbos by a margin until the corners. 😀 It was my boy racer era and I could beat...
I think you're underestimating the performance unless your VX220 was modified. It'll never handle like the VX220, but on the straights the R will beat the VX220 on the move.
I've had the Z20LET in a MK4 Astra GSi Turbo. Mine was tuned and I had it from brand new in 2003.
I find the little 1.6...
That's a nice offer Bad Dog.
It's a common theme that dealers do nothing and hope you go away. They really don't care about their legal responsibilities.
I had a massive fight with Arnold Shark when my brand new Mercedes A45 AMG turned up damaged. They did everything to stop me rejecting it...
It's a Peugeot main dealer that has the car. I'd be expecting an AUC warranty with the car.
The source of the engine would be my concern. A brand new engine from Peugeot could be a positive. An unknown engine from a donor car would be of concern.
Since it looks as if the dealer has asked...
The new white one was on sale from November last year and well into this year as a private sale. The log book hasn't changed since 2018. I guess they couldn't sell it.
As well as new brakes discs and pads it had a brand new engine and clutch.
They don't behave like bumper plastic. It's a strange finish.
I've applied Solution Finish a few times. It only takes a minimum amount of run and the windows get smeary. Gtechniq C4 didn't really work either. Both these products are expensive. C4 pops up on Amazon on sale occasionally...
It doesn't really work on the roof rails. It does give a temporary finish, but when it rains it makes a mess of the windows.
The best way to deal with the roof rails is a cutting compound.
It's very common. A high percentage of cars that come up for sale are in need of the discs replacing.
You can get the front discs for around £700-730, but a main dealer is £950. It might have gone up in recent times like everything else.
If the brake pistons are corroded(likely) a dealer...
I did notice that, but didn't want to highlight that to the owner.
I see pictures of the white one at the Peugeot main dealer are up. The front brake discs look very worn.
Everyone is avoiding that bill.
Thread update. I did email Peugeot about this and asked the question. I was getting the impression they were willing to make some contribution, but they weren't clear about how they would help.
What they did ask was it was taken to a Peugeot dealer for investigation. I'm 50 minutes away from a...
It just shows how much people need or want to buy from a dealer for security, finance and trading.
The white one with the decals and white wheels has finally gone. It was a very select customer they needed for that one.
As Apple says it's very tight back there. There is no legroom unless the front seats are pushed forward. The rear windscreen curves in leaving little headroom. It isn't going to be comfortable for a 9 year old in the back.
I'd be going to check out an RCZ before waiting for an R to come along.
I'm a big guy and have zero issues with the R. It's nothing like getting in a VX220.
The only thing I have to do is dip my head a little when at a junction when having to look past 90 degrees.
Forget using the rear seats unless your passengers are missing a head and legs.
