    Diesel timing belt for rcz

The belt on the left is an OEM, if original it done well, or maybe redone by a a dealer or someone keen to use oem at some point?? The other 6pk 1224 looks to be a Gates, aftermarket replacement. Either way, many miles of fun in front, well done.

    Hi from Merseyside, England

Bit like me then…… Youll probably find that after a good service and maybe a set of coils allis good. Maybe just a bit of damp getting at them.

    Power steering buzzing

PSA prince engine, quite a bit in common, more than you’d think.

Coolant Loss, no heat in car - have I a head gasket or air lock issue ?

funny you ask, just wrote (I think) all of it up in another thread for manual disengaging, tho you don’t need that bit. Engine cold, cold, fire it up and the pulley is in its disengaged state, water pump isn’t engaged. when warmed up the pulley mechanism extends to engage the water pump. its...

    Power steering buzzing

What has you so focused on the power steering? Something you mentioned above about no noise cold then noise when warmed up. Does the noise stay when warmed up and sitting stationary? Yes - carry on reading. No - I hope Indy get it sorted. This engine had a few ‘hands’ in the design and I am...

Power Steering rcz gt 1.6 156

Just went thru the books for both mine and it’s not listed. As PSA recommended Total I looked on their fluids checker for cars and got this info.

    Low MPG

Don’t know if you can record a log with your Carly device but if not a passenger watching could keep an eye on it and take the car for a good run through smooth and spirited to see if the psi drops away, a couple of miles should do it. When you do boot on it will drop off but will quickly...

Power Steering rcz gt 1.6 156

Sh1t, sorry, I have jumped threads somehow. That was in relation to engine coolant, as is the pic I put on above being comma g30 coolant. Really don’t recommend coolant in the steering pump, might do a bit more than tick, for a wee while.

water leak from front of diesel engine in rcz

Hi, I stay away from diesel cars, sorry just a personal thing…dirty oul things, but where you leak is possibly coming from I think I would have a thermostat housing, oil filter housing gaskets (full set, not just block) as well as the egr. I would also be prepared for a bit of time cleaning off...

Power Steering rcz gt 1.6 156

I can’t see the specs on it, but if you look at you handbook it will give you the spec to use. As far as I remember the Total energy is the OEM recommended fluids. Youd be as handy going into a local autofactors and getting them to cross check the spec and give you the right one, again from...

    Coil pack failed

Just 20 min ago the forum had been over run with ‘T’ discount offers, tho looks like one of the mods has done a good job tidying them out.

    Coil pack failed

I think it was just a preference thing, or maybe they had a bad experience at some time. Never had a bad experience with Bosch, other than spark plugs a lot of years ago. However, with all the big discounts at the moment why not go with temu 😜 (honestly just joking).

    Low MPG

Only throwing a few thoughts out there. OBD based, Take a reading of your fuel pressure to know what it is actually at, if it’s stable, low or high etc. about 700+ psi is decent. (nb: recon pumps have been mentioned on here as having 10-15k mile lifespans, don’t know if you went new or...

    Hose off

I might be tempted to look for an original air box and pipe kit, or maybe a silicone one that accommodate all the breathers and sensors the ecu is looking at. purpose of the silicone hose is to smooth the air with less restriction, does that one? bet it’s got a lovely red cone filter too. Can...

Coolant Loss, no heat in car - have I a head gasket or air lock issue ?

Hey that’s great to hear, now just start building you confidence in it and get the big mileage going. Hopefully the hard graft is all done, get it hot and enjoy. ps, now you have done it, surely you would tackle it again? Cant waste all your experienc. Car pics coming soon to??

Coolant Loss, no heat in car - have I a head gasket or air lock issue ?

It might be nothing but try and have a really good look under the oil filter housing for any signs of oil leaking, bit of a sign that the seals are hardened to plastic and might let oil and coolant cross. Though the dry pressure test should hopefully have ruled it out. Sure do a test run to...

Coolant Loss, no heat in car - have I a head gasket or air lock issue ?

If you get right thru to heat in the cabin and running at 90 with no issues for say 20 or so minutes, let it cool, top it up, get it out for a run and see if the white smoke clears (hopefully just condensation in the exhaust etc). Make sure you see the rad fan cycle on and off and also the water...

Coolant Loss, no heat in car - have I a head gasket or air lock issue ?

With 110 miles and it starting to clear on its own, with no other issues (overheating etc). I’d be inclined if it were mine to get on and enjoy. Any excuse for an extended run and I usually take it. Maybe my ocd would want me to change the oil tho. To date I have been lucky not having to...
