There should be a polystyrene box in the wheel well containing a jack, air compressor/inflation kit, tow eyes. On top of that is a fold down boot carpet.
You can do an amazing job yourself with a random orbital polisher, foam pads and a product such as Meguiars Ultimate compound. Before you get into it though, find a friendly detailer to measure the thickness of the clear coat. The car might have been cut before and you don't want to go through...
I forgot to mention. Get someone to go over the car with a clear coat measuring gauge. It might have a history of paint correction and the clear coat could be reduced to minimal thickness. Unless you bought the car new, then you'd be OK. You'd know if it's been buffed before.
Definitely worth doing a clay bar after the wash. Especially if it's never been done before. Super easy to do. Same as removing swirls. Meguiars Ultimate Compound is gentle. You really can't stuff up the paint as long as it's clean when you hit it with the compound. You'll be fine.
Where is the wreck located? It'd be handy if I need parts.
We need to catch up and go for a short drive somewhere. 👍
Anyone else on here from Melbourne?
I heard one R was taken out by a truck in Melbourne somewhere. The other went off the road up in the Dandenongs.
Where did you buy your car from? There were a few R's for sale last year that I was interested in.
Mines been fine but it's only done 35000 klm. You need a really good mechanic who knows these cars. I've seen a lot of bad stories with people taking it to dealers and the mechanics having no idea how to diagnose problems. They end up spending loads of cash and no solutions.
I've been there to see small races. It's not far from me. Beautiful part of Victoria and it is spectacular. One day maybe I'll drive it. It has claimed quite a few street cars over the years.
Find yourself an really good mechanic. Sometimes these cars throw up error codes that can lead you off in the wrong direction leading to lots of wasted time and money.
