Mine was a 1978 escort mk2 with plastic seats wind up windows and just a radio for entertainment
Would be worth more now than when it was new but I'm guessing it hit the scrap yard many years back.
If you buy one go in with your eyes open, some can be trouble free others will be a money pit but bare in mind they are now very cheap to buy so depreciation is very low. You are also getting a car that looks like it cost £20k for less than half that ,
I've owned 3 of these over a period of 6.5...
Mine does it on moving from stationary when first moving off and occasionally from stationary once warmed up
3 garage visits (different garages) and 10 months since it started nobody can tell me what it is .
Car drives fine .
Totally mental bike , mine was a 1999 full power 140BHP just wanted to pull your arms out of their sockets when you wound it up
Sold it in 2004 and never found anything that really lived up to it.
Rode bikes for forty years
Bowed out with a Harley low rider which was a shame because it was the most expensive and least favorite of pretty much all the bikes I ever owned
Favorite...................Vmax no contest.
Mine had new chain at 31k and 5 years old

Clutch was my thoughts
It's a sequel bit like a fan belt slipping only lasts a second and not all the time just as the car moves off and rarely when its warmed up so presumably as clutch bites
Changes gear fine but will probably get a new clutch fitted
Mr clutch quote £756 so not the end of the...
So I'm hoping some clever person will tell me what this noise is. It doesn't happen often and mainly first thing in the morning when the car has been stood overnight, just as the car pulls away from stationary.
On the clip the noise happens at about 4 seconds , the car has now been to 3...
I think with these cars its more a case of frequency of service rather than who does it. Skip services at your peril particularly with the petrol version .
