I’m the same height and don’t have any problems,in fact the seat will go back about 6” further if needed.
However when I bought mine the electric adjustment was completely shot.I found a child’s seaside spade wedged in the mechanism preventing any meaningful adjustment.
But- clearing that only...
Having had a Mark 1 156,and a Mark 2 200, yes the steering at low speeds is quite a lot stiffer than many recent models, such as Peugeot 2008,VW Up!(don‘t you hate the apostrophe!)
However all is forgiven once properly on the move when everything comes to life (light)!
I think this line of coirespondence is akin to the dreaded Politics/Religion taboo!
Well left alone - otherwise our friendly web site will degenerate into the bitching of most other owner forums!
Mine is not the clear gel but a green slime which must be at least 10 years old.
Gave it a go and within 5 minutes had restored the arches to their original colour and finish!

I could only afford it as it had been a Cat N about 3/4 years ago (front nearside I believe) and I paid £6500 in March.
A few cosmetic ,rear vallance straightened and re sprayed, and full diamond cut refurb relieved me of another £1k.
Mechanically it is spot on whereas my old 10 plate 156 had...
Thought I’d better put some of mine whilst it’s just had its annual wash😜!
The UP! has just joined the stable having P/exd the 2008.It’s the 90ps which just scrapes under the 10 secs to 62 so is quite brisk.
A very warm welcome.
This is one of the friendliest car sites going.
You might have noticed a slight spat in the last few days but that was the first time I’ve encountered any problems since I joined.
Look forward to seeing your contributions I.d.c.
Perhaps it was my comment on his advert for 200GT in another section!
I’ve really done my best (worse)!
Should a main dealer be advertising here!I really don’t know ,but it doesn’t matter now anyway.
