Hi there
I have a 2014 1.6 THP156, still struggling with a completely symptomless P0016 that only triggers in very specific circumstances.
Using iCarsoft 2.0, I can see a parameter titled 'Crankshaft Target Adaptation under Deceleration', but it is flagged 'N/A' and there is no option to work...
I've changed oil & filter twice, most recently trying the newer 0w-30 recommendation in case that helped, but still no luck. Coil pack and plugs, cam and crank sensors, vvt solenoid too. I don't suspect the timing itself because the belt was changed by a THP engine specialist a couple of years...
Many thanks for this. I have changed the VVT solenoid (horrible job), but no improvement and the one I took off passed all tests too. The input voltage to it at idle was only 3.7v, but I gather that this is not unusual and voltage will increase when required.
For years my RCZ has thrown completely symptomless P0016s (and no other codes), always in the precise circumstances of a low speed return to idle when the engine is cold (like approaching traffic lights or T junction). Tried everything I can think of or can find on the web. Just wondering, if I...
I think there is only one vvt solenoid on mine, the THP156. Faff is an understatement, I nearly lost the will to live trying to get it out from the back of the engine without losing the holding screw. There isn't a corresponding one on the front side of my engine, although I wish I was wrong cos...
A few months ago; it was the first thing I tried. It's possible that the garage used 5w-30 instead of the newer recommendation of 0w-30 though, so it won't hurt to try that. I've also changed plugs, coil packs, cam and camshaft sensors, and now the VVT. A genuine timing issue is unlikely because...
Hi, afraid not I'm still getting a P0016 in very specific circumstances: only when the engine is cold and only when the revs drop to within the 500rpm-1000 rpm range. I can avoid that by driving for a few minutes as if the car has no tick over, blipping the accelerator every time I come to a...
Hi. The connector to my VVT solenoid reads just 3.17 volts with ignition on. This is far too low to activate it, but I'm wondering if this is normal at ignition and higher voltage is only supplied when it is required. Could anyone confirm please? Reason I'm asking is that having removed the old...
Thanks for the info :-) I would have bought new, if I was sure that the solenoid was my problem. As it happened, the one I took off passed all tests, as did the one I bought, so glad I didn't spend £60 on a new one. In the end I did use the one with mesh covering all holes.
Hi there. Anyone know definitively which VVT solenoid should be fitted to my 2014 156? After what I thought was thorough research I bought Delphi part V7587760, but on removing the defective one (a complete PITA by the way) it has a different reference: V7604292. They appear identical except...
