Apparently the 200 GT & the R came with the leather interior the test is if you apply a little amount of some leather cream onto the dash & leave it to soak if it stays the same then its synthetic leather

I never used leather conditioning products on the R's dashboard. Even the manual says it should be cleaned with caution.
I used the typical Meguairs Interior Cleaner which also prevents from UV degrading. Proved to work all the years.

That what I’ve always used on mine. I was never sure If the dash was leather or not. It looks nice, that’s all that mattered to me really.

Yes I agree with DKZ5745

The "standard" models (eg: where real leather was not specified) are all faux leather on the dash and door tops etc and are stitched to trick our minds even further into believing its real leather.

Think of it as as the MBTex of Peugeot .... remember Mercedes MBTex?? - It was such a high quality artificial fabric that it was impossible to tell if it's real or not and it's virtually indestructible.

I'm not sure if Peugeot gave their faux leather product a "name" but it's certainly exceptional quality, it's tough and it can easily take Australia's 60 degree C interior temps of an outside parked car every day without moving, stretching, cracking or loosing its colour. Tre' magnifique' Peugeot !!!

All GT models have real leather trim + heated seats as for a leather dash etc it must be kept moisturized especially before the summer months as the heat can stretch the skins & split the stitching if they dry out I nourish mine 3 times per year & I have seen a dash actually split open & they were selling the car as damaged but fully repairable!

The real leather dash were a optional extra but actually time has told that it’s actually better to have the faux option as in high temperatures the real leather can shrink and as Pedro mentioned even split.
